This is Richlands last true test until the playoffs, with Lebanon coming up next week and a BYE in week 11.

Abingdon is 7-0 and has a high powered passing offense with a QB in Sturgill that is putting up video game numbers. Conversely, Richlands and Asbury are putting up video game numbers themselves, averaging close to 48 points a game.

To me this games comes down to matchups.

QB is a draw.
WR is a draw.
RB is a draw.
Defensive secondary is a draw.

So for me, this games comes down to the two lines, and the LB corps.

Richlands has a very physical defense who doesn't give up very many points and is extremely stingy against the run. This gives Richlands a slight advantage in knowing that Abingdon will have to pass frequently.

I'll take Wade, Addison, Holmes, Mance, Lowe and company any day.

Gonna take Richlands by 14 by home.

It will be a HUGE point haul for Richlands with a win as AHS is a 3A school.

Would like to know the passing stats of the two qbs combined. Would imagine it would be around 4000 yds or more and around 50 tds. Gonna be a great atmosphere Friday night.

Another playoff game type atmosphere for the Blues, this will be the 2nd game this year with this type of feeling and atmosphere for the Blues, with the other being the Union game !

The O lines are going to be very important for both teams in this game It will come down to which line will give their QB enough time to find their receivers and keep the sacks to a minimum. The running game will be important, but both of these teams rely on their passing game more so it will come down to who executes that part of the game the best...IMHO..........and turnovers will be critical, as in don't commit any !
Both teams are going to move the ball and score and it will come down to which D makes a stop and I think the Blues D is the better D right now and all they have to do is make 1 more stop than the falcons do and I think they will. I like the chances of our front 7 putting pressure on the falcons excellent QB and allowing us to make that ONE more stop that we need to win the game !

Plus, having Howie and Atkinson to return kicks is a plus as either one can bust a punt ( probably wont be many of those ) or a kickoff ( probably will be a lot of those ) for a score or at least give good field position !

This is going to be a playoff type of atmosphere and a high scoring game........fun, fun fun.......can't wait to watch it !

I would live to see this game! Wow? 1900+ yards passing with 28 TDs 4 INTs? That is an amazing stat line. I seen the hudl footage on him. That QB is official! I will say though if Richlands faces Appomattox in playoffs. We have a great secondary and he will be tested to the max.

Yep. 1900 yards with 28 and 4. The big thing for me is the 0 INT since week 2. Also, 8 players have caught passes this season. And pretty much any of them can score at any time. It's not just a 2 or 3 receiver attack. We rotate a WR on 90% of the plays. So they are all fresh and all very talented.

Most teams try to stop Howie and that opens up other receivers to exploit 1 on 1 match ups. And when Richlands needs it, Blankenship will run over people on his way to the end zone.

Sturgill is at 2,055 yards with 24 touchdowns. He's also run for just under 500 yards and 6 scores.

Abingdon has been in some high scoring close games this season, so he has seen the field a bit more than Asbury. Asbury has only seen the 6:00 mark of the third quarter twice this year.

Sounds good. I will give you my # so you can just call or text me if you come.

The boys have looked great this week and so excited to get on the field. Probably will be somewhere around 5000 to 8000 people there and maybe more. Going to be good

Hey Kevin and Ryan, what time are you guys planning on getting there Friday ? With the crowd that is coming I'm thinking about getting there around 6.00, depends on what time my wife gets home from school.
I'd say if a person doesn't have season tickets he will need to get there pretty dang early.

I'd say the boys are fired up this week in practice. I was planning on coming to watch em a little this week, but unfortunately I have had a bad upper respiratory infection and bronchitis on top of that so I have been down since Saturday.
Starting to get a bit better now though.

That's an Abingdon offense averaging 44 a game and a defense that was giving up 15 a game. This was a statement game. This team is primed and ready for the playoffs. Got a game at Lebanon next week then finish up with a BYE before heading into playoffs.

Except for a couple little things, they really looked good tonight. The Blues will be a tough matchup for just about anybody in AA right now

Asbury was 14-21 208 yds 5 TD's and 1 Int. That was his first Interception he had thrown since Union in week 2. That brings his total this year to 33. Blankenship also has 21 TD's on the ground.

Richlands did what I figured they would do by being the far superior team. The 7-0 record for Abingdon I thought were a little misleading. Abingdon haven't played a team above .500 until Richlands. Their best opponent were 4-4 Blacksburg who they needed ot to beat by 1. The rest of their schedule is 1-6 or 2-5 or 2-6 and they had trouble with some of those teams in which Richlands would've beat very easily. This wasn't a true test for Richlands because they already had it(Union/Blue field).

I'll be intersted to see the points. Richlands gained max points last night and that will make it interesting heading into the last two weeks.

That is correct. He had 5 TD to 4 different receivers. He completed passes to 7 different players last night.

I agree. I knew their defense was suspect. But they have an explosive offense that can score at anytime. So it was a good test for their defense. They couldn't do anything in the run game. Richlands has shut down the run all season. That really hurt them. They ended with negative yardage. But Sturgill is an excellent QB.

Richlands is just as loaded on defense as they are on offense, and I think that gets overlooked by a lot of people. What is the most rushing yards Richlands has given up in one game?
