First of all . Bburg fan here. Plus VT fan. What's my take? The speed is there. During track. I wanna see it much more when pads are on. He did step up at seasons end. Myself? Tyquest Terry is the one to watch. Both compliment the other and qb runs that offense well.

I beg to differ the statements said He Gone!!! Sure when hole is big. I wanna big runs created also by the individual . I watched many football games in NRV. Tommy Edwards played fast with pads on. In Roanoke Valley Tiki Barber did. I think the Beck kid is deserving of a D1 look. Let's be clear he at this falls short of two above. Let's say at same age. Now on track he the man.

I see some saying Pitt. Narduzzi will have him on defense so quick his head will bust. Uva? Maybe a good place. I say go elsewhere son. Word is wvu ties! Maybe an nc state tie? Dunno about that. Have either offered?

The question is this . Why hasn't VT offered a local? Scholars are getting low. Plus this is not slam dunk recruit. Hey I am glad he is a bruin. Look forward to watching him this fall. Wish him luck no matter the school. Hoping partially VT offers . Stil beck has great speed. He's track star with s football chance.

VT had been on the fence about offering and they had him up for a camp recently and decided not to. Beck ran a blazing fast 40 (4.29 I believe) at Tech but they were looking to see if he had the type of agility, change of direction and hands to play in the slot and apparently they didn't see enough to warrant an offer. Like you said, VT is very close to finishing out their class already.

Salem has played against some real play makers. I always like to look at these kids' highlight films on Hudl to see how they did against Salem. I've seen in person some monsters from Lake Taylor and Dinwiddie. Not much on the highlight reels from the Salem vs. Blacksburg games.

Coleton is in a unique situation with regards to recruiting. Yes, he has ties to WVU, UNC and NC State thru family members, but those are not really factors. The biggest factor is he wants to be a dual-sport athlete. It has been mentioned before, but he has turned away schools that a)Don't have track; or b)Have not supported him doing both. Schools have turned him away as well. He also wants to play RB at the next level and has plenty of options to do that. If it was just about staying home and going to VT, he has that option, but at this point, it would be as a track athlete only. Kudos to the kid for staying true to himself in finding the best situation for him.

Just curious as to which schools that have actually offered him have told him he will be playing RB if anyone knows

The kid has some elite talent to for those schools to be looking at him. 4 ACC schools and a program who IMO is going to be in playoff contention in a couple of years with Coach Montgomery and Robert Prunty calling the shots. Kid's doing something right!

@cb2018 I'm gonna rant to you for a second. I am apologizing to you for saying that I won't get down with the Beck hype. Back in the summer of 2008 when that track hype of David Wilson was circulating, I took up for him. Some of the things that have been said about Cole were some of the things that were said about David. He was just a track star, he couldn't run over people, he was just hype because he was one of the best high school track athletes in the U.S. David proved all of his naysayers up at Tech and his short but very productive stint in the NFL. I haven't seen Cole play in person but him and David d*mn sure share a lot of similarities and that's a good thing. Cole is a little taller than David and probably about .02 faster. David was a little more physical but IMO that's what got him hurt. Cole is in for a very special senior season and he will do well collegiate level and with his size and speed, he has the opportunity to go to the NFL. He's got his head on straight, he's a great athlete and he has a very good support system.

Gotcha DSH and appreciate it. So much is posted on message boards. I do my best to post only factual information and avoid opinions. For those that know Coleton, they know the the kid he is and how hard he works, at both football and track. At the end of the day, the decision is his an absolutely no one else's. Yes, I know Coach Prunty, Montgomery and the entire ECU staff. They will do great things at ECU, lots of folks will be surprised at their 2018 recruiting class.

I appreciate the confidence, but I think ECU's chances of contending for a Final 4 spot in the FBS playoffs from the AAC are about the same as Carroll Co's chances of contending for the Final 4 in C4 anytime soon. I'm not saying ECU is that bad but teams outside of the Big 5 power conferences have very little chance of making it to the college playoffs. SEC, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, and Pac 12- breaking into that Top 65 or so schools is nearly impossible. (Even if they were undefeated)

Mike I agree simply because of the political aspect of college football. I still think ECU will be in the convo in the near future to do big things. I have that much faith in Prunty (who Tech will regret passing up) and Montgomery is doing an outstanding job in Greenville. They're going to surprise a lot of people. I will say this, Houston was in the playoff convo for a while this year out of the AAC. The AAC's champion still gets a BCS bid and all it takes is one good year to get your name thrown into the conversation for the next year (like Houston did with that win over Florida St in '15). A lot of people may call my statements crazy and grandiose, but hey, I don't mind.

I think there is a media bias that won't likely allow for a conference other than the Power 5 to qualify, except in extremely rare cases. One major consideration is SOS and generally a team like ECU wouldn't fare to well in that category compared to an SEC school for example. For a non Power 5 making a tough enough schedule is a big problem and if they accomplished that they'd also have to be undefeated as well. It's possible, but highly unlikely. (The odds would be astronomical)

I was wanting to know if WVU or State had offered. I dunno. I have heard being a Bruin fan. That he has ties there. So IMHO if he did you have to wonder situation with both school.

Again we can all hope kid has bright future. No matter the sport.

WVU showed interest but doesn't have track. State may still be in play but hasn't offered at this point.

Ecu has a decent program. Like you said. The G5 are not wanted on playoffs.
