It's ******** that we have to rely on Conner and a bunch of freshmen to even stay in the game. I NEVER thought we would suck this bad. Thanks Polk. I know Cohen will turn it around - but right now it just sucks. We let Bianco and Ole Miss totally blow right by us and that is just not ACCEPTABLE - EVER. Getting %#+*@%! swept by a directional Louisiana school?

I just can't believe of all the momentum that we've had in the past in football and especially baseball, we've somehow ended up with this steaming turdfor both programs. Larry Templeton needs to have the **** beat out of him for letting the programs coast to crap like he did.</p>

that the MSU fans would let it get to this point. It's sad that we have people that loved Ron Polk more than MSU.

This team has to learn how to win. They have to understand that when a team like a Southeastern Louisiana comes in, they are going to play their asses off because their conference is not going to get 9-10 team into the postseason. If they can say that they swept an SEC team on the road, that's going to be huge for their reseume, whether we suck or not. We did not match their level of intensity and got outhustled and got outplayed. And that's unacceptable.

Like I said, I think this team needs to relax and just play.

having seen allot and being close to MSU baseball since 1976 I was very concerned about the hire in the first place. I hope it turns around but I remain very concerned.

might be trying a little too hard right now as well. I know he wants very badly to win, but if he runs these players in the ground, he will have a hard time recruiting simply because we will be looked at as a losing program.

finished an average of 9th in SEC play in his tenure. What he did before 1997 does not count right now. <div>
</div><div>Cohen needs a few years. I think we'll have a better record this year than last year and next year we will be in postseason. By year 4 we should expect the postseason or be hosting a regional. </div><div>
</div><div>Would you rather have Polk's handpicked successor from a crappy team? </div>

the direction Polk and Raffo had the program headed.

Polk (and Raffo) took the program to the bottom of the SEC and that is the truth.

I have also seen a lot of games and I have been concerned about the program since 1992.

I thought Pokey should have hung them up long long ago. What I was worried about was this hirre we needed to hit a home run and I think we missedand have from day one. I hope that I am proven wrong. Look Pat 17ed in more ways than you guys will ever know and Ron wouldn't change with the times. We missed our chance when Pat went to Fla. we could have hired anybody in college baseball at time so a large part of the blame goes on Larry.

Seriously, MSU should just wait til next year. Experience is the missing link this year. Next year will be a banner year.

It was a downer this weekend, and I don't believe any Msu baseball fan saw that coming. The thing is we have 18 new players mixed in with Ron Polk's leftovers, we have some talent and it's mostly young and on the mound. Cohen has stated "you can't get everything you need in 1 1/2 recruiting years. He'll get us competitive but we are around a .500 club right now. One thing is for sure, we will improve as we have a bunch of young guys and like you said Todd, they'll have to learn to win as do Polk's leftovers! I'm disappointed as well, I was hoping we would get off to a fast start, it didn't happen and now we got to work on the basic fundamentals and Cohen will work his *** off as well as the players. Look for a bunch more of new players next year as well.

It's early in the season of his second year and he's working on his second straight top ten recruiting class. Wait till this year's classare at least juniors before you start jumping to conclusions about his ability. I am still excited about him taking over our program. That bein said, SLU is a talented team, but a sweep is ridiculous.

becasue I was happy to see him leave. He stayed much longer than he should have.

Having set the facts straight there. Cohen should get the basics straight with the players he has. At college level, you sould be able to field defensively. The number if errors we are makin is inexcusable.

Not Choen's fault?

That's ********. He recruited them. He is the coach. He sets the tempo for practice. Too much time on pitching? Bullcrap! The fielders are not working with the pitchers. They are practicing defense while the pitchers are working on other stuff.

Someone has let defense slide badly. Many too many errors in every game. I'll give them a bad day, but defense wise, they have had no good days in 7 games. TYhe only thing that has us where we are right now are a few good hits. Perhaps Cohen coached that, but I see that as hitting talent and not coaching, else we would be doing it every game and would be 7-0 now.

Polk? needed to go, pure and simple. I give Cohen this year like everyone else. I do not see him as the save all that others swoon over. He has shown me nothing yet and gets worse with every game so far this year.

NOW, before anyone busts my chops - NO, I am not saying Cohen = Crooms. Just that this post had a very Croom-esque feel to it.

1) Cohen has brought in one top recruiting class and has signed another. Not top 30, more like top ten. Most high schools coaches in the state are drinking the Cohen koolaid.

1) SELA baseball is a couple of steps better than Maine football, when you're looking at the big picture. Maine was 5-6 in 2004. SELA won 37 games last year and returned most of their team.

And we pretty much fumbled away the entire series with errors n ****. But, we still lost.

Remember this:

We have made 16 errors this year. 10 have been from Polk recruits. Of the six by Cohen recruits, four were committed in one game by the same two guys.

We'll see if that trend holds up throughout the year, but my point is as far as the defense goes, Cohen's guys haven't been the problem.
