Just FYI, don't ever believe what people say until their actions show it
Braden Smith scared him off.
He’s probably seeing that we are all over other guards/wings and there is just not much PT to go around.
Probably means Johnson is being seen as the primary guard reserve. He will probably play most of the minutes behind Lowe and Oweh at both the PG and SG.
Chandler, Perry, and whoever we sign (Wilkerson or Pierre or whoever) will also play some at PG if we need them to.
Lewis probably saw the wiring on the wall with us going after another wing.

This will always be the challenge with the transfer portal. Freshman ranked around that range committing early . I see it from both sides .

Ignore them. There are 3 names that suddenly want to hop in and post in this thread but have been dead silent since the Dioubate and JQ commitments.
He sees where Ahmad Nowell is these days. Go to blue blood and not play much year 1 as a top 40ish type recruit and your value tanks in the NIL market. Much better off going to a school that has a clearer path to PT if the pay is comparable to what we were offering.
If he then bounces somewhere else next year the payday should be much better.
I hate it because I really liked Lewis a lot but if he isn't a fit because he doesn't want to fit then it is best to part ways now and reconfigure.

If you want to win THIS year, it might end up being better off. Find someone to fill the role you exactly want for now at the guard position. I fully expected year two Acaden Lewis to be special and I am sad for 2027 hearing this
Unfortunately we are but Wilkerson on campus soon so hopefully that’s good news.
Also, if this helps us get Kinney next year then worth it and chandler can backup Lowe along with the 2 & 3 positions. Gives him more time and feel he’s going to have a really good season.
I think the biggest issue is a lot of them have to many people in their camps whose interest aren’t what’s best for the player

Maybe he can commit to UNC and have sleepovers on Caleb Wilson's bunkbed. They can make dance videos on Tik-Tok, eat some mint chocolate chip ice cream, and gossip about all the pretty little Chapel Hill co-eds, giggling like the good little wenches they are.

But don't be surprised if Acaden is willing to be backup 1 (backup to boozer) in Duke, that will really piss me off

Yeah we should have rolled out a freshman point guard in the SEC and get steamrolled so we don’t hurt feelings.
If a kid decomitted over this —- good. You know they aren’t the player we need to be building around anyway

If Lewis left before setting foot on campus he's not the type of guy you get to build a program or culture either. So it's a wash.
Do you actually believe there's any universe where Pope or his staff would have automatically told Lewis, "Yeah, you're coming off the bench now?"
Let's get real. Lewis doesn't want to compete for the starting spot. He's mentally weak right now. It's okay to call it what it is. Lowe isn't an All-American. A decent player could beat Lowe out for a starting spot.
Lewis was going to get limited minutes this year. For one thing, he needs to get bigger and stronger to be a starting guard in the SEC. His value was going to be next year and beyond.
The problem with that is the same temptations to split for a better deal that turned him tonight would have been much stronger next April.
If he wasn’t all-in, leaving now is the best case scenario for Kentucky.
Good riddance. Let someone else baby him this year and hope he doesn’t dump them before next year.
