If he commits to Puke or UConn, that should tell the story since this ain't the NBA and tampering is legal.
And the fact that his dad is in legal trouble, even more need for $$$

So you're taking Lowe over Wall and Fox? Elite talent beats experience. It's the Devin Askew level PGs that we don't want starting year one.
Lewis is not Fox/Wall. He’s closer to Askew rankings wise (I think he’ll be better than askew)

Truth is, 15-20 min a game (which is what he would have got) would have done wonders for his year 1 development and a year in the weight room. Year 2 it would have been his team….the problem with that today is if he’s not willing to take the backup role this season then he likely would have dipped to the highest bidder next year too, even if we sacrificed finding a better guard this year to appease him and let him start. Typically it’s best to stay away from the overly active social media parents anyways bc you know they are constantly allowing agents in their ear and going to push their kid to do what they want …or start getting in their kids ear if the parent isn’t satisfied w the minutes/playing situation

Him and his father are FOS. Said all the right things then dip when he isn't guaranteed a starting spot? Good riddance.
Yep, unfortunately I'd say it was the signing of Jalend Lowe that probably did it. But if you're choosing a starter between a proven commodity like Lowe and a true freshman like Lewis, what are you gonna do? Lewis would have still played plenty of minutes and would have improved. And hey, if he was really a great point guard, he would have eventually won the job. But if you want the start handed to you and aren't willing to compete for the job, well, I'm not too upset he decided to go.

This actually doesn’t worry me. Pope has plans. Let’s go!

So you think all those articles claiming Pope signed his starting PG Lowe were what? Fake news?
Him and his family saw the same things we saw.
Who was claiming he'd be a day-one starter?

Same kid who couldn't even crack the RSCI top 20 or get a Mickey D invite was going to become John Wall, Brandon Knight, or De'Aaron Fox for us in year one?

Agree on the parents part.

Acaden - "I will always be grateful to Coach Pope and the entire Kentucky staff for believing in me," Lewis said in a statement sent to ESPN. "It is clear Kentucky is a special place with an amazing fanbase, but as I reflect on what is best for my future, I have decided to re-open my recruitment. This was an incredibly difficult decision, but after a lot of discussion with my family and people I trust, I feel this is necessary. This is not in any way a reflection of any negative feelings towards Coach Pope and Kentucky. I appreciate your understanding and am excited for what the future holds."
Really couldn’t have been handled better IMO. I’m sure it’s a hard decision and tough when rosters start filling up after you’ve signed

Terrible news. I knew it ! You can’t bring in a talent like that an expect them to ride the bench!
He wasn't going to ride the bench if he earned the minutes. There was playing time at PG and the opportunity to earn what he felt he deserved. Can't take your talent to the most prestigious team of all time and expect them to let you hold them hostage.

I hope this doesn’t affect future high school recruiting. Staff dropped the ball on this one.
If they're good enough to start,, then I don't see that being a problem.. AL could have started out as backup pg and if proved he could handle it later on in the season then grab the pg1 roll.. Dude looks like he wants a guarantee starting job.. He can go to UNC..

Do you think Fox, Wall, or Ulis would have been afraid of competing with Lowe?

There's no way. This says way more about Lewis than it does "Kentucky recruiting over him." That's BS. He can't expect to be the only quality point guard if he commits to a school like Kentucky.
Fox, Wall, or Ulis do not matter
it is obvious it mattered to Lewis
now do not get me wrong, personally i would take a Ulis type or a SGA type that are not afraid of competition

i almost forgot to add that in this transfer era i am not sure losing any one recruit matters unless they are very elite

But they’re claiming a kid who shot sub 38% for a meh Pitt team would?

Aren't you both kinda in agreement then? Both of you want a player who doesn't care to compete and isn't afraid of competition.

Pope did recruit another Point Guard so, I mean you could argue Pope forced his hand, but I maintain, if you feel like you can't beat someone out, then I don't want you on the team because you already have a defeatist mindset if you are Acaden.
And If you can't understand we lost 3 damn PGs in one season and want to hedge our bets, head elsewhere. I hate it for us, but if that's Lewis' attitude, good riddance.

Are you slow? Pope probably found out either earlier today or in the past few days. He didn’t start recruiting a 3rd PG thinking Acaden was going to be here. He didn’t find out with this tweet.

The good news is that we won't have to deal with future fallout when Acaden's dad doesn't get his way (which was inevitable with a man with his overbearing personality).

It's like when people want to leave a church. A wise minister will let them go and not chase them. Don't talk them into staying because it will be inevitable that they'll find another reason to split down the road. In most of those cases, people aren't thinking about the whole or the future; they're thinking about the face in the mirror today.

I'm glad it happened now instead of dealing with this blow-hard dad later.
