The women’s basketball tournament will be held at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia this year. ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said they are having it outside of North Carolina because they are trying to grow interest, which I totally agree with. The tournament will be held March 4-8 and the seating capacity is 13,500. I wonder how early you should order tickets?

Fairly soon! Cards are 8-0 and the top 15 qualify for the tournament. 15th place is currently 1-6, so our current magic number to qualify is 5. We should probably clinch a spot here in the next 3-4 games.

As of tonight, 16th place (SMU and Pitt) is now 1-7, so UofL’s magic number to qualify for the ACCT is down to 4.

It would be nice to have an ACC tournament off the eastern seaboard; say, in Pittsburgh, Louisville, or even South Bend.

SMU and Pitt are now tied for 16th at 1-8, while the Cards are 9-0. Magic number to clinch is now 2. Clinching the ACCT berth could come as soon as next Thursday, if the Cards can beat Stanford while Pitt and SMU both lose their road games on that same night.

Book those tickets, Cards are 10-0 and 16th is 1-9. Magic number is reached, so we are officially in!

Next Magic number to clinch is for a first round bye. Teams 5-9 get the first round bye, and 10th place is Georgia Tech at 5-6. Cards are now 11-0, making our magic number to clinch at least a first round bye = 2!

And our double bye magic number is 5: three way tie for 3rd is VT, UNC and Syracuse at 8-3.

Update on single bye magic number - because UofL (11-1) owns the head to head tie breaker against Cal and Stanford (both teams are 5-6), our magic number to clinch the single bye in the ACCT is just 1.

Our game today against Syracuse figures big into the double bye equation. The Cuse is tied for 3rd at 9-3, and with a win, UofL will own the head to head tiebreakers against UNC, NC State and Cuse, all the teams right behind us in 3rd, 4th and 5th.

With the big win against Syracuse, the Cards (12-1) have now clinched the single bye and have reduced the Magic number for the double bye to 3. As I mentioned above, we now hold the head to head tiebreakers against UNC, NC State and Syracuse. Virginia at 8-4 is the only team chasing us that has the chance to win the head to head tiebreaker against us when we play them in the Yum Center on 2/22.

Virginia lost to Cal last night and is now 9-5, which means our magic number to clinch the double bye is now 1. Take care of business Sunday against Florida State, and we will have clinched a top 4 seed in the conference tournament.

Cards (14-1) are officially a top 2 seed in the ACCT. Syracuse, UNC, and NC State are in a 3-way tie for 3rd at 10-4, but we beat each head to head and so we own the tiebreakers against all 3 of those teams.
