What would be acceptable numbers by the offense to show improvement, or show that the program is heading in the right direction? Everyone here knows the offense sucks. But what numbers/averages would show that the offense is getting better? Or scratch that.. what would you like to see the offense average this year? What would satisfy you?

I would like to see at least 350 yeards/game.. something like

200yards rushing
150yards passing
28 points/game (offense only)

possible? doubt it, but that is what I would like to see.

200yards rushing - Too high. Only 3 SEC teams averaged that much last year (and only 4 averaged over 156 ypg rushing). A goal of 170 yards rushing would be more reasonable.

150yards passing - Way too low. Hell, we averaged 159 ypg passing last year. We need to at the very minimum average 200 yards passing.

28 points/game (offense only) - That'd be nice, but I think more like 25 ppg on average from the offense only would be more reasonable.

and I would quit complaining about the offense. I'm too lazy to check, but I suspect that this is close to "average" in the SEC, which is all I'm asking for.

in the right direction. Everything else is just window-dressing. You can always hire a new OC and have Croom go completely hands off at some point.

at least 330 yards a game and 25 points a game offensively in this day and age is really unacceptable...and it doesnt matter how you get it

Just looking at last year's stats, Vandy and MSU were the only two offenses to gain fewer than 330 yards per game.

Ole Miss, MSU, Vandy, and Auburn were the only 4 teams to average fewer than 25 points per game.

So you're probably right that those should be bare minimum type numbers for an offense that's going to give you a shot at winning.

99th or better in the NCAA total offense statistical category. For a Croom offense, based on the first 4 years, this would be a huge step forward.

If we can average that much rushing, it means we won't have to have too much through the air to win. I think those numbers would get us 7 or 8 regular season wins.

games and then a bowl game.......will you continue to harp on the offense while the rest of us enjoy 9 wins?
