State employees get 8% next year and 12% more in 2 years so a 20% raise over the next 2 years but they gave teachers 0%. I guess Gov Andy isn't for teachers like he wanted everyone to believe he was.
thanks for displaying your ignorance. this budget was produced by the republican house and senate

Exactly. Can't count how many family things I missed work wise. Worked so many days in a row before, literally had no idea what day it was.

Ain't feeling sorry for someone hwo gets at least 3 months in a row off. Gets every holiday known to man off. Spare me the whining from them. DO not care.
Those ditches aren’t going to dig themselves.

I agree that there are some terrible teachers but it seems they all get lumped together as being bad. And yes my wife is a very good teacher who has been a finalist for the Valvoline KY teacher of the year award, she serves as a board member on some type of education board that oversees KY, TN, VA and WV as one of only 2 teachers representatives on the board (the rest are college presidents, school district superintendents, state department of education heads, etc), she has been featured in an article of the Washington Post for things she has done in her school system among other things. She is one who works hard, cares about the kids and their education, goes above and beyond and it ticks me off when I hear guys lump her in a category of being selfish, entitled, money hungry, etc.
Education majors are always, collectively, the dumbest folks on a college campus. (Possibly surpassed by Gender Study type silliness nowadays).

It's the refuge of the lazy and those who never really moved past high school, or were a dork/loser/outcast in school, so this is their "do-over."

There are a lot of good teachers, but at least half--honestly likely a low estimation--are worthless losers who couldn't make a living doing anything else.

Hey it's okay you guys think teachers have a sweeter gig than you do and are jealous. I get it but just don't let jealousy turn you bitter because nothing is worse than an bitter old man.

Yeah lets just talk about the summer break and not that they have dealt with snot nose brats for 9 1/2 months out of the year. Some of you guys have no patience and get your panties in a wad on this message board over nothing. I can't imagine how you would lose your mind when an 8 year old flips you off and tells you to kiss their @55.

I am not a teacher and have no desire to be but have heard multiple stories from my wife and daughter and even saw one message a 1st grader sent my wife on class dojo cursing her out. So yes some of them are snot nosed kids. If you don't think they are go volunteer at school...oh wait I forgot you guys work 20 hours a day 8 days a week.

I'll say this, I wouldn't like to deal with that. It would take every bit of restraint I could find in my body to not punt the **** out of that little kid.

In my profession, those snot nosed 8 years olds grow up to be whiny *** low level managers that think anyone they talk to should bow before them and kiss the ring.

Guess my point is if you deal in service or even teaching, which I'd see as a form of service, you're usually going remember the ******** more than the nice ones but either way- ******** from K-12 all the way through to the bitter end.

At the end of the day, teaching is a good job. It has amazing benefits (better than most jobs), great perks, lots of time off, and the most powerful union in the world advocating for them. Just quit acting like you’re a coal miner/trauma surgeon and no one has any issues. That’s really all.

-this should've ended the thread.

-some teachers are great. Some suck. Most are in the middle

-there is no "conscription" for teaching. ***You are not a saint for doing your job.*** You are appreciated by folks when you do great work, derided by folks when you do a poor job....JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER JOB IN THE WORLD.

You just did
Obviously you got shot down by some education major back in school, or your ex-wife (or husband, I don’t judge) isn’t making enough and it’s making you work 26 hours a day to pay your alimony. There have been two (2) actual teachers in this thread, neither of which have complained at all. Maybe some day your balls will drop and you’ll be able to look at the world with a wider lens than you have now. But for now, you’re just another keyboard warrior bitching about something you have no idea about and bringing up points you would never be able to prove without some frantic Googling. Let’s all pray you never reproduce. I’m on Spring Break, so I have the time, but not the desire to react to all the made up sensationalistic ******** you’re about to post.

You are saying you are working 84 hours per week so yes I am being serious. An employer cannot force you to do that. There are labor laws to protect people like you from being overworked.
I am not currently, but yes I have done that. You must very insulated if you think there's a law against people working 7 days a week. Trust me. I've done and know people that have done it for years.

Get out of your bubble and learn something.

They do that because weak kneed leaders took discipline out of school. Figures they are out of control.

Weak kneed parents should learn how to parent better and take some accountability for their kids so their kids won't be acting afool in school. What are these parents doing for the first five years before they enroll in kindergarten? What are they doing when they are home with the kids before and after school? What are they doing at home when they have the kids over the weekend, spring break, winter break, summer break, etc.?

Perhaps the teachers should start having a say in how the kids are parented if the parents want a say in how the kids are taught??

First of all, if you're a teacher anybody can be one.

None of what you posted toward me is even remotely true. Zero.

I chose my path. Wasn't a lack of options. No regrets. Been very blessed. I have teachers in my family. Well aware of what their jobs require. Thankfully none of them resemble whatever it is that you are.

Any kid under your "teaching" would be better off not even going.

Never complained about my work or what I had to do. I just have no sympathy for someone complaining about the hours a teacher works. It's laughable.

It's "teachers" like you that has led to a huge jump in home schooling. Nobody wants a teacher like you for their kid.
