In Kentucky, parents already do. Curriculum must be passed by elected board members. If something is being taught, it’s because the board members who were elected allowed it. It’s up to parents to voice their concerns and vote out anyone trying to pass off garbage to their children. Better yet, concerned parents should run for school board! Be involved folks. Most parents have no idea what the approved curriculums are or how schools even get funding. Liberals are quick to try and get involved. We need more conservative parents interested and making decisions. That being said, there is a legitimate need for Charter Schools in certain areas of the state. I’ve seen their success in the cities of NC. And I’ve also seen their failures when not done correctly.
Outside of Jefferson, what areas of Kentucky actually have a Teachers Union? Unions have bargaining a rights. There is nowhere else in the state with that.

Steve Beshear promised to address the pension issue when he ran for governor. As soon as he realized it was going to be tough and fixing the problem and pleasing people was impossible, he quickly gave up and kicked the can down the road for others to fix. I give Bevin credit for digging in and trying to fix the problem. He failed miserably. Can kicked.
