But I'm sure they're similar to the rest of the prisons in South America. Good. 17 him.

but still, if the conditions are right, that could be enough. No tv, heating and cooling, libraries, workout rooms, etc.

better punishment imo than the death penalty. he'll get an eternity of what's coming to him later but the next 35 or so ain't gonna be fun. they don't coddle prisoners in south america like we do.

considering that the woman he confessed to killing has a father who is extremely connected politically, i bet he gets shanked within the first year.

shows they showed a prison where the inmates were allowed to have weapons. Some of them had assault rifles, garnades, knives, ect.

I think they said the life expectancy of a prisoner there was like 3 years.

Thats pretty legit.

His stated reason for killing the 25 year old student was interesting. I'll miss-quote him "the girl got into my private life and she had no right to do that - she got into my computer and found I was involved with Natalee Holloway's murder." Evidently he thought that was justification for killing a girl in Peru.

I have a friend who is familiar with the prison system in Peru. From what he said, there is a heavily guarded fence around the prison compounds down there and inside that fence, the prison population rules. My guess is that they will open the gate, push Joran inside and at that moment, he becomes subject to prison rules established and enforced by the inmates. My friend says that they do not like foreigners inside Peruvian prisons. He smiled a sick smile and said the inmates who are prone to violence would take offense that van der Sloot had killed a young Peruvian girl.He will be in a world of trouble once he gets inside the fence. My friend says that it would not take much money to bribe someone inside the prison fence to make certain he is kept alive for 6-10years, which is what he will get since he confessed.

Of course that assumes Stephany Floures' family does not get him before prison. Every photo I have seen shows him in a flackvest. I assume that means he has a target onhis chest. It is a matter of family pride and what I have seen is that her family is pretty PO'ed. I would be if I were them.

The only hope he has is if he quickly becomes a communal lap puppy, and then it will keep him aliveonly until they get tired of him.

handcuff his hands behind him and turn him loose in the geographic center of Alabama. It would save the US justice system and the Peruvian justice system a lot of money. Since someone mentioned a tv show (Locked Up Abroad), I'll mention a movie. Next of Kin.

has either been charged or indicted for extortion in the U.S. -- related to trying to sell the location of the body and the circustances of her last moments to the family of Holloway.

If the Peruvian girl discovered something on his laptop linking him to the disappearance/murder of Natalie Holloway shouldn't we be hearing something soon about this? The only way we would is if he deleted the information after killing the girl. I doubt the Peruvian authorities wouldnt sieze the computer. So what is the hold up on on the lack of information on the Holloway angle?

I doubt that Natalee Holloway got near as much media coverage in Lima, Peru as it did here in the states. It sounds like she used his computer and found out who he was while he went out for coffee.
