This blithering idiot (yes, there is a pattern developing here) decides it would be a good idea to call a talk show to defend his son.

He goes on and on about how his son has told him what really happened and the cabbie is a liar.

Then the host asks dear old dad "Did your son tell you he got thrown out of a bar last night?"

After a rather uncomfortable pause, Dad finally manages "Ugh, ugh....no he did not".

However all these coaches could lose their jobs if AK was fired. It might be at the end of the year but unless Boone hired one of them as head coach, they would be looking for a new job. The report I saw said something about a witness. It would be pretty simple to see if the cabbie really did have a swollen face. He either did or didn't.

From the C-L article, and believe it or not they actually thought to contact the manager of the bar.

But Alex Moller, who identified himself as the general manager of The Lodge Bar, disputed the police report.

"The reports that they were kicked out are untrue," said Moller. "They were here, but they left on good terms. As for what happened after they left the bar, I don't know, but there was no incident here."

I have a problem with them being out so late the night before a game, but from what I hear it sounds like there are holes in the cabbie's story, which is why I think nothing will come of this, whether it should or not. Also, I hear that racial slurs were involved, but the first racial slur came from the cabbie in reference to Torey Ward, and you can guess what slur was used. So that's the other side of the story.

So, it really comes down to one word against another, so unless there are enough eye witnesses supporting one story over another, nothing will come of it.

Obviously he's planning on suing or he wouldn't have hired a lawyer so quickly. If he's not planning to sue, there was no need to hire one.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't consider 'Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein' as racial slurs.

but I will add that if I was locked in a cab aGAINST my will, I would yell whatever I damn well please.

If I called you Hitler because you were white, you would not find that insulting?

So if someone called you Adolf Hitler, would you consider that a racial slur?

If not, what is the difference?

----A derogatory name (to some) no doubt. A racial term? No

If someone called me Hitler, I'd laugh it off.

Even if I got mad about it, I wouldn't consider it a racial slur.

and to name 2 people who killed thousands of people who look like you is racially/ethnically motivated.

It's hilarious that you are defending this.

and Petersen did not turn down the MSU job.

And there should be a great purge just because most Sixpack posters believe that your coach is a skinny, drunk, bigot? Just because most MSU fans refuse to be spoon fed the syrupy sweet story your coach has put together does not mean they need to go.

by the way ... did you go to The Lodge and check out their menu online? It so good they don't even list it. Kind of strange that a refined place such as The Lodge where coaches would go for a quite dinner at 12pm does not even list the menu. They do on the other hand list $1 shooters and bikini Night. Look, I don't blame him. I would have been their too, but lets not make him out to be a choir boy when he was at the bar dropping shots and chasing college tail.

Our entire state gets a bad rap (sometimes undeserved) about our current racial climate.

Yet the media chose to call it racial.

That's what I have a problem with, regardless of whether it affects Ole Miss, MSU or any other institution in Mississippi.

it was wrong to say anyway you cut it.

But as I said above, if I am locked in a cab and the cab driver won't let me out, anything that comes out of my mouth I am not accountable for.

The insult was based purely on the cabby's racial heritage....so yeah, calling a Middle-easterner "Bin Laden" or "Saddam" is a racial slur.

While I agree with you that nothing will come of it, the major difference if this gets pushed to court is that the eyewitness for the cab driver is independent. In front of a judge, the only thing that will be concrete is the police report, the police testimony, and the independent eyewitness. The other coaches are related parties and will not carry as much weight.

i just figured it was where you were born.

anyways... i have to agree with DS. you lock me in a car, a room, hell anywhere, and I am not accountable for anything I say or do. i still get a kick out of this since he allegedly hit the guy in the face and everyone is more up in arms over what came out of his mouth while physically assaulting a person. what if he had just yelled "Hot Soup" or "Snickers Bar." i'll try that the next time i get into a fight with someone.

it was definitely not necessary to be at college night prior to a nationally televised game against #9 in the country. hell they played them fairly close until the end. maybe if AK and staff didn't have a long night, and maybe if they had been concentrating on the task at hand, OM could have won the game. so i guess this comes down to me being happy he went out and mad he had the commentators constantly saying the words Mississippi, racial, and slur in the same sentence over and over again last night.

I'm sure other coaches go out on road trips too (especially if they are in a city in which they lived for 5-6 years), but unless an incident happens, no one is aware.

He was 'out' with coaches from other schools, yet no one is talking negatively about those coaches.

it also comes down to where they went 'out'. they went to the lodge on College Night. it's not like they went to a sit down restaurant and had a beer or two. they were not at an applebee's or a grill or an old venice. they were at a place that has this on the stage:

seriously...you can't think this is appropriate the night prior to a nationally televised game against #9 in the country can you?

You mean you went to the trouble to look this place up? You care way too much about something that has no effect whatsoever on your team.

And honestly I think last night was the best game we've played all year. We showed some intensity down low for the first time all season, so I don't see how you could blame this incident for our loss. I would think that our 4 of 24 shooting performance from beyond the arc was a much bigger reason for the loss, and a lot of those misses were wide open looks.

The game was 20 hours later, not the next morning.

Maybe they didn't want McDonalds----not a lot of family restaurants open at that hour.

Seriously, if you're a guest of someone in a city, don't you generally go where you're asked?

Actually I did not look it up Thank you. I followed the handy link provided on NAFOOM with the title you need to check out Little Black Dress Night. It's like a soft core strip club. Can certainly see that it would be a great place to get some dinner.

I haven't read posts on the Kennedy stuff (other than this thread) and I have no opinion and don't care about your sorry coach.. I have seen the story on tv.. but you make me laugh.. You make **** up on this board SO many times claiming you have "sources" and now you are spinning this like there is no tomorrow. It's almost like you are Pete Boone's secretary.... seriously.. I might be on to something. You always get your feelings hurt like your a little girl anyway so hmmm..

I'll tell you what they say on NAFOOM (everytime) if you guys were talking about something MSU related. This is an MSU board go away. If we want to make up a damn story about AK killing somebody we will. Unfortunately for you this story is on every major news outlet.. Maybe you should set up interviews will every sports radio station and tv station to tell your stupid homer opinoion of the situation.

Go *@$+ youself.

What's more homerism, supporting a current coach or having hairy palms over a new hire that has never coached a college game in his life?

If Stans did this some of these same Ole Miss posters would be over on the Spirit slamming State and talking about our lack of values. Screw them and their hypocritical school since they are all about them some racial tolerance and responsible drinking.

Well, I do have the balls to come over here and state my opinion.

Why don't you try the same on Nafoom?

Your hate for me is purely rivalry based. That's pretty immature. Yes, I'm an Ole Miss fan...but many if not most of my lifelong friends are State fans. I'm sorry you live in such a bubble that you can't get along with anyone from a rival school.

As for Kennedy himself, I've never been his biggest fan. A definite improvement over Rod, yes.....but I don't think he's in a position (yet) to make demands on our administration. Therefore, I've posted negatively about him numerous times.

In this situation, I just think he's getting a bad rap.

Regardless, I don't care about basketball. We could dissolve the program and I wouldn't lose any sleep.

You say that like you and a lot of the MSU homers wouldn't be doing the same thing for Stans that a lot of our homers are doing about AK, if the situation was flipped.

That's just the way it goes. When it's your player or coach, it's "let's wait until we see the facts". When it's a rival's player or coach, it's "guilty as charged, lock him up and throw away the key". Welcome to message board world.
