They've had UK more than the Indy Bowl had us from 98-02, or at least it would be 3 of the last 4 years.

I don't see why they wouldn't take UGA or SC instead just for a mix up. It's essentially the same spot the Indy was in in 2001. We had been there in 98 and 99, and so they took Bama over us despite Bama having a worse record, because they didn't want us 3 out of 4 years.

The big winner in my eyes would be the Peach. Getting UT, who has a huge fan base anyway, and getting them coming off a non-bowl year in Year 1 of a new coach is going to be a big draw. If they get the rumored UT-Va. Tech match up, that would be a big one for them. I don't know what it is, but despite having the 4th non-BCS bowl pick for the SEC, the Peach has come up with some really good TV match ups recently. They had Clemson-UT, Miami-UF, Miami-LSU, Georgia-Va. Tech, Auburn-Clemson, and LSU-Georgia Tech in the last 6 games. Maybe it's just that the ACC-SEC match up tends to be intriguing in this region.

I simply don't understand it. The beat a 10 win team in their last game in a non-conf game. They played at Okie State (9-3) in their first game. I guess the Cotton could not have Okie State vs UGa but seriously, UGa played a tough non-conf schedule and finished at 4-4 and they end up in Indy Bowl.

Just another shining example of how playing a tough OOC schedule does nothing for you.

Most SEC schools have figured this out by now. Cupcakes are the way to the promised land. There is little to be gained by playing a murderer's row.

The Peach Bowl had a higher payout, a better TV time slot, an uncontested TV time slot, sold out every year (vs tens of thousands of empty seats for the Outback Bowl) and was much easier for our fans to travel to. The Peach was simply the better bowl. We didn't get shafted at all. We caught a break.

Drew Brees and Purdue. Great offense versus dominant defense, would have been a great game.

Brees was a Heisman candidate and the marquee player for the game. The Outback wanted an exciting game showcasing Brees` skills and Purdue didn`t want their boy killed by Joe Lee`s defense. Would have definitely been a great game but Brees would have seen a lot of it flat on his back.

It's a 2 hour or less drive for a large number of UK fans. They'll sell 30,000+

I can say that the Music City people, however myopic as it is, look only at ticket sales and ALWAYS go with the presumption that since KY is literally a stone's throw away that they will bring huge numbers into town. They simply don't give anyone else credit enough to bring a good crowd in. Their wet dream is to have Tennessee in the MCB...
