Seems like this happens to at least one every year. The Dan Mullen way isn't for everyone. Hate to see it but it is what it is.

out the classes at corner a little better. This will open up another spot to sign a corner this year I guess.

Problem is, it's not just one. It's never good to lose nearly 20% of your signing class before they have even put on the pads.

But we're at the point where we need some "good attrition." I hate to see Grindle go, but we have a good number of running backs at this point. We've lost Samuel (meh, though he might be back), Coman (likely to be back), A. Perkins (considering the 2013 WR class, not a huge deal), and Scheussler (which, whatever).<div>
</div><div>I don't have overall attrition numbers, but it doesn't seem to me like Mullen and Co. are having much too difficulty with that aspect of the program. </div>

And if we sign Moore and Shumphert, that increases. It's unfortunate that we've lost 5 signees, but attrition happens when you are trying to progress from a mediocre program to a good program.

Hate to see a player like that go but at least we're losing players that can't cut it due to toughness or because they don't think they can play immediately. I can take that. I can't take the Crowell's and the Mathieu's of the world that can't get their act together after multiple chances.

The balancing act is still becoming more difficult. We will always sign 25... I wish it was 27 or 28. But, the 25 limit can work in our favor when competing with LSU and Bama. With more and better competition at each position we are going to see a couple signees drop every year.

If he couldn't make it till the season even starts, we're better off without him. Better to lose him now than later. Frees up a roster spot for next year's recruits. Get used to it. Not every player is going to last at MSU. But the ones that do are going to be the ones we want to keep.

makes me believe that either we did a poor job in evaluation or that Mullen and Balis have really ratcheted up the pressure this year. They don't normally drop out this quickly. I tend to believe the latter, but that could be wishful thinking. That being said, players leaving because they aren't able to compete is a far better thing than leaving for disciplinary and legal issues. We seem to be having less of that than we have had under other coaches.

Rosebowl saying tonight that it was pretty disappointing to see him go because he had busted his butt to qualify and get up here for the summer. It must have been something pretty substantial for him to quit.

perk, griffin, milton, robinson. not nary one senior there. thats's 4 running backs ahead of him. not counting moore (hopefully). he saw the writing on the wall. hate to lose him but our depth at rb dictates otherwise.<div id="LCS_336D0C35_8A85_403a_B9D2_65C292C39087_communicationDiv"></div>

Probably happened. This **** gets real in a big way
And it happens fast both mentally and
Physically. You come in as a freshmen thinking you
Are a world beater and you find out real quick that this
Ain't high school anymore. Some kids break and have
To quit or move to a less competitive situation.
That is really all there is to see here. As one put it
So well "the Mullen way is not for everyone". We will
Continue to get stronger.

at the open practice. Wasn't even doing drills with the RB's. So then you go from 4 underclassmen ahead of you that are all likely to play this year to backed up behind two guys your grade that are better than you at a position you haven't played(well, he might have in high school, but he wasn't gonna beat out Redmond or Jiles).

He would have been good depth at CB. I hear he wanted to play RB. Perhaps we can get Jamil Golden a scholly now.
