We needed somebody to come in and clean up the boards. Ace took that role on tonight and made a massive impact !

He actually did score. Was a quiet one but gritty points. Just had no jump shot. Loved his game today.
Easily his best game from an intensity and impact perspective. 15/15 with 2 blocks and numerous altered shots, plus 4 of his boards were offensive and of those he scored on 3 putbacks. So happy to see him play so well, even if his outside shots weren't falling.
Agreed. He was kinda just trying to go iso the first couple games and force shots. Played within the game, disruptive on D, crashed the boards and made the shots he had too.

If Ace does that every game, RU will win a lot of games
We saw a player with a ton of potential and a lot of room to grow - grow some tonight. He learned to go get the game tonight - that will go miles for him! Love seeing that - great thing to build on!
I have expressed admiration for Ace in the past for his early verbal commitment to RU...followed by his seemingly unwavering loyalty all the way to LOI day. During the summer one of my biggest worries (along with a lot of other people here) about this team was our future appetite for hitting the boards. At one point I think the vibe was Ace was not/would not be inclined to do power forward type work on the glass. I am a big believer in team rebounds...being a good rebounding team can indeed be a TEAM activity. However, if someone on the coaching staff can convince a player with Ace's God-given physical abilities to regularly help with the rebounding "dirty work"...well, we just may win a lot of games this season! Go Ace! Go RU!
