"I’m from Jackson, Mississippi. I grew up with my four brothers and my mom. We struggled a lot, like I just told you, we went homeless twice and it’s been an uphill fight ever since then. Ever since I was about 10 or 11, I’ve been fighting and trying to provide for my family and my brothers, and I guess it’s just finally coming true. I’m just happy right now. It’s been tough. I’ve been in Jackson all my life, Mississippi all my life, so California is a nice switch up. I can’t wait."

Not trying to be an *******, but the simple truth is that Dixon's real mother was a Jackson crackhead and father wasn't in the picture. This is where the homelessness occurred.

Ms. Williams, who is referred to as Dixon's mother, a good Christian lady and just hell of a person, adopted all of the Dixon boys. They live in Jackson, but she worked for Hinds County Schools in various roles (cafeteria, custodian, in-school suspension, whatever it took) to keep those boys out of JPS.

Got them involved in athletics and had the coaches working them hard, then she'd work them hard if they brought home a C. For a single mother to raise three adopted sons and all of them become pro athletes - that's amazing. The other two are in the minor leagues I believe, but I hope Anthony makes millions and rewards Ms. Williams thoroughly.

It's really not a big deal if a black person who doesn't live in a mansion helps out a homeless black person.

It's only a good story if it allowsupper crust southern white people to pat themselves on the back.

I went to high school with both of them. His daddy Anthony Williams played pro ball twice drafted out of Juco. That is probably when the "homeless" thing occured. Velma Dixon his mother, a teacher at Terry high school, is very good people. Velmagave birth to all or most of the boys prior to Anthony, the dad, going pro. He came home for a brief stint, they had more and he was picked up again by Arizona diamondbacks.Thelma has been this family's rock the whole time and the credit goes to her.

On a side note, Anthony Dixon's parents are the two best athletes I have ever seen. No wonder these kids are so talented.
