Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I'm expecting something from Adidas this weekend. Not different jerseys, but something. They changed their Twitter photo to us and they're apparently sending some suits to hang out in the junction.

For all their flaws early on, I don't see how anyone can be upset about them being our provider right now. We're their banner school for the time being, and only a Heisman front runner can make a dent in their negative ROI with RGIII... So I think they're going to ride that one until they can't ride it anymore.

If they really want to be in our good graces they'd fast track some white away jerseys and maroon pants just like our 100 year anniversary jerseys.

Also the pop up banner ad to the right of my reply window was for RGIII's jersey. I welcome our new computer overlords.

with michigan in the *******, ucla having a setback, tennessee falling a little short, louisville falling off the map, atm losing to us, cincy being cincy, we are the flagship of the brand right now. i find it really hard to believe that we were told that long....it just doesnt add up.

I wouldn't necessarily call it garbage. I wasn't really a fan but I thought they were nice looking. If not for the girly chrome fade helmets I would have listed them as an above average uniform.

Does anyone know why we use adidas? I don't really care for any of their unis for any team, and they don't put out as much merchandise as Nike does for their schools.

Because they are giving us 17 million and a shitload of gear... I didn't believe it until Scott posted the numbers, but apparently Nike, UA, and anyone else didn't offer us ****.

17 them... Adidas it is!

This is just not true. Adidas has more MSU stuff....

Than Nike EVER did for us. Go to the Lodge, Hibbetts, Iupes, online. What color polo do you want? White, maroon, gray, black? What color sweatshirt? Hat? Visor? Shorts?

And I wear much more Adidas and under armor stuff than Nike now. I wear Adidas shoes. Lighter, more comfortable, and more often less money. Not because they are our supplier but because I like it better.

Thanks for the replies. Most stores in memphis carry very little State clothing, but they carry most all schools Nike. I have a hard time finding adidas stuff for my son also. Granted he's just over a year, but my wife manages to find him Nike Bama jerseys. I've got him a couple from the lodge, but they're not adidas.

Because they pay us above our market value and make a point to do advertising for our school. I'm a Nike guy myself, but I'd only like to be a Nike school if I had the same bartering chips as a school like Bama or FSU. Otherwise you're just a run-of-the-mill program for them.

Example: We "gave away" RGIII cleats (for like $30) to guys who came to Big Dawg Camp months before they were technically for sale.

Adidas stuff being on the shelves in Memphis doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the supplier. It's all on our licensing and distribution people. They suck. They're absolutely the worst. If you go to hailstatestore.com and look for the Adidas stuff, you can get the exact same stuff as Michigan or any of the other Adidas schools.

The only thing I'm aware of not being able to buy is the specialty shirts they make for the football team. Like the shirts of Coach Collins' drawings.

Thanks for the education, and I apologize for what seems to be a stupid question now.
Not stupid. I just wish people would admit that the "we should be Nike/UA!!!!" complaint is unwarranted and actually pretty naive. Ole Miss is saying the same thing about Nike and Auburn fans AND players complain about UA. Adidas has bought into us long before half our current fanbase, and the only thing they've really screwed the pooch on is the aTm addition... But that's a very unique situation.

They've also created some pretty hideous baseball uniforms.

I remember a time when arkansas fans thought they would get more recruits with Nike jerseys.

17 everyone but adidas then. If they are going above and beyond the call of duty for us, then I will buy nothing but adidas. I don't buy Nike anyway because their shoes suck.

Besides, we are going to need every money source we can get to try and pay Mullen and the staff after this year, so I'm all for adidas.

Sometimes it just seems that Adidas is just trying too hard. It`s like they feel that everybody wants to be like Oregon.....memo to Adidas....we don`t

I agree Whosyourdawgy: I have worn a 14 since about 1996 and adidas has by far been the most comfortable and easiest to find in the right size than Nike. And like you said, much lighter. No telling how many pairs of Osweegos I have had. Plus at about $60-75 a pair you could afford to fish, run, mow, whatever in them and not have to treat them like a pair of Nikes that cost 2-3x's as much.

Technically that's on the shoulders of the buyer (at the store). If the manager at the store doesn't want to stock MSU gear, he doesn't. It's that simple. Licensing indirectly affects it.

Sure. That applies to John's store on the corner. But there's a reason you see Ole Miss Nike stuff at Academy Sports and are only able to find a Gildan MSU t-shirt. That's not on Adidas in my opinion.

Those baseball uni's were teeeeeerrible. But it doesn't seem to have hurt us. In fact, I saw one of the new commits tweet about how he heard MSU was their flagship program.

I think we could have had Inidana's get-up (we did, for SBW). I put equal parts blame on our administration for signing off on these designs.

Works the same way at big box stores. I work in conjunction with this exact thing. It's on the local buyer. He buys what he wants. And 99% of the time he wants to make money. If Gildan MSU gear netted him more money than Adidas MSU gear, he will stock mostly Gildan. Shelf space is finite.
