on the other hand, there are plenty of students who actually like the idea...i doubt it goes much further than this, but we'll see.

but for the tens of thousands of completely unplugged, clueless, 50-80 yr old geritolers, there's no way it's acceptable. And, anyway, George f'n Lucas would darth vader you bunch of crunchy mikers over the copyright problem.

I mean, a joke would just having the character up for the vote and nobody voting for him.

A joke doesn't have a website, twitter account, and printable flyers promoting. Nobody that has talked about this happening has said to the media it is a joke. I'm sure there are some OM fans who think it is a joke and just good fun, but I'd wager there are a lot more that are serious about it (even though they might also think it's a bit silly).

the gun by presuming that Akbar will be chosen as the new mascot. I think its hilarious and I would love for him to do the "are you ready" for the first game regardless of who the school picks as a mascot.
