Considering how they just got used like a little ***** by Kiffen, I think they would be a little hesitant to bring on a guy that seems smitten with every job opening every year. They know Cutcliffe won't break their heart. He may crash and burn, but he won't screw them over.

There is now way he could leave. If he were to talk to them it would only be to make Boone mad.

your power brokers went running to Fulmer after the kiffin **** hit the fan and said "save us!"

Looks like Fulmer is all up in the middle of this search, and speculation is running rampant that a play is being made to shitcan Hamilton and slide Fulmer in as AD. If that happens, Cutcliffe is HC. Whether it happens that way or not, I think Fulmer is going to push Cutcliffe regardless, so Hamilton might just roll over in order to keep his job.

Cutcliffe will take the job IF he and UT can work out details regarding his asst. coaches. If it doesn't work with Cutcliffe, interim coach Kippy Brown is almost a guarantee to get the job. The job will be filled one way or the other by Friday, Sunday at the latest. Also, don't be surprised if after the coach is in place, Hamilton gets blown out and Fulmer is named the athletic director. Several big time boosters were not on board with the Kiffin hire last year, now that Kiffin screwed them over the boosters have the upper hand and are supposedly pissed big time at Hamilton. UT lawyers are also looking into possible violations when Orgeron contacted recruits after Kiffin said he was gone.

We shall see.

I was about to say something there. Nutt may like Oxford, and he may like the school and players, but his relationship with Boone is strained enough that he's going to be willing to listen to other schools at times.

Yea, it's not looking good for Hamilton. I see Fulmer and Cutcliffe as forever linked. If they hire Cutcliffe, I think it means Hamilton is being shown the door. I can't see Cutcliffe working under Hamilton.

ETA: If Cutcliffe can get a lot of his staff with him, he wouldn't be an awful hire. His biggest problem at Ole Miss was that he had a great staff originally. When they took other jobs though, he did a poor job replacing them, which led to our recruiting slipping. He was still fired a year too soon, but if Cutcliffe surrounds himself with a quality staff (and UT can afford to pay a quality staff), then he wouldn't be an awful hire, and he could have some success.

Especially seeing as how he's never even been the coordinator anywhere (although he was head coach of something called Memphis Maniax for 1 season).

Chizik was an underwhelming hire, but he put together a hell of a staff, and they are having success in recruiting this year. That being said, does Chavis go back to UT?
