Skyler has NO interceptions, his feet extend plays and get yardage, his receivers excel at one-handed catches of nearly everything they touch.
I know it's Georgia Southern and Liberty, but I fail to see the reason for such heavy-breathing worry. Yes, if Skyler goes down with injury, it will hurt WVU. Just as it has hurt every team that already lost its QB.
I think William Crest is better than most think. He showed more last season than he has this season, but that can be attributed to the number of reps compared to Skyler. And Crest has an amazing stride once he starts moving. But he's tentative this season, fearful, I think, of screwing up and falling farther behind Skyler.
The defense is solid. Passing is solid. Kicking is fabulous. Kick returns is no longer the severe problem it once was.
I think we have to look hard to find problems with this team. OK, maybe the short game and the red zone. But the offensive line has a lot of new parts so it's a work in progress. And Maryland doesn't look all that fearsome, not after losing to Bowling Green. And even Oklahoma had to squeeze by Tennessee, which hasn't been an SEC force in years.
I feel MUCH better about WVU than I did before the season started. And most of you know that I have been critical of Dana and the 7-6 and 4-8 seasons. But I'm more hopeful than I was before the season started. I'm not a Pollyanna and I haven't sipped the Kool-Aid, but I think this team deserves some credit for great progress.
Granted, against non P-5 teams. But even those teams gave WVU more trouble than GaSo and Liberty did.
Let's enjoy the season as much as we can.
