I am curious to see this year and this team will turn out, so I can tracking the different lineups each game; ab, h, lob, so, bb

p/game
.avg: .303
ab: 34
h: 10.29
lob: 10.57
so: 5.29
BB: 4

Cohen has used 7 different lineups, so far.

  • Frazier has led off 5 games and hit 3rd twice ...obvious Cohen is getting him as many ab as possible early
  • Brownlee has hit 2nd 5games ...only two games he hasnt started were mvsu
  • Bradford has led off 2 games, hit 5th, 6th, 2nd twice, 3rd
  • I do not understand why Cohen feels like he needs to get Sam Frost ABs
  • Rea has moved around everywhere, he has hit; 8th, 7th twice, 6th, 5th, 4th, and 3rd

to me, a lot of people are talking about our hitting and how it is going to struggle, but it is hard to find guys in our lineup that are overmatched so far ...when you look back to the last 3 years you could tell some of those guys would struggle in SEC play, this team really isn't overmatched at this point most of them battle every pitch, we have struggled with leaving people on base (74 total), but the hits just haven't landed. We are only King 5 times a game, that is not that bad.

I am wrong and we end up hitting the ball pretty well down the road, but at this point, we don't look very strong at the plate. The pitchers that valley were throwing against us were not that good. I would have liked to have seen us put up at least ten runs sunday. Last weekend against wash. st., they threw two or three true freshmen that gave us trouble. All of this said, don't look for me to be throwing a tantrum when we start SEC play. I'm hoping to be in the discussion for SEC and national titles in five years. Yeah, you read that right, five years.

BABIP: (H - HR)/(AB - HR - K + SF)

It is a good indicator of how lucky you have been.

So far, our BABIP is .348 which is a little above avg. Just to get some perspective, the avg BABIP for the 6 SEC "West" teams is .342.

Even though our avg should drop as we face tougher pitching, our .308 isn't an overly lucky avg.

(according to Nolan) RPI of 15 SOS of 33.

That means we have played a relatively tough schedule so far, therefore we have been subjected to above average ptiching.

But this board has made up its mind this team can't hit, so that's the general sixpack consensus, statistical proof to the contrary be damned.

Which will lead to this: When MSU plays Memphis, if MSU gets only 4 hits, people will run here asking where is Ronny.

If MSU gets 13 hits vs. Memphis, it will be because Memphis was tinkering with its pitching line-up today therefore those 13 hits are an anomaly which can't be taken seriously.

We may have a SOS of 33, but we only have two more weeks to fluff up our schedule and continue tinkering around before we get thrown into the slaughterhouse, that is our annual SEC schedule. I'm excited about baseball up to this point, but we need to find improved hitting before we open against LSU

saturday we beat valley 13-5 where we sent 35 to the plate and got 13h, left 9 on base walked 5 times and avg .371
all we changed was the order and added woodruff took away henderson
sent 35 to the plate and got 11h, left 12 on base walked 6 times and avg.314

just because we didn't score 8 runs ...you are not satisfied with our hitting ...are you watching the games?
