After listening to Cohen tonight....

I am even more amazed at how far behind the curve our program had fallen. He exudes the confidence and enthusiasm we have not seen in the baseball program in years. His total approach to the game so far exceeds what we have been saddled with lately that even I was shocked. And I have been totally disgusted with the situation for several years. It really was an eye-opener tonight and I'm glad I went. Got me back in the Dugout Club, too. I was so pissed at the total situation that I said to hell with it a couple years ago. Still bought the tickets every year, but was not happy about it. Can't wait for Feb. 20.

He will be successful. It may not be in 2-3 years but he will be be one for the books before it is all said and done.

even if you're doing something as dumb as predicting a half-decade away success

in baseball under Cohen. Who do we think we are?

Sorry, but it is not dumb for MSU to expect to win big in baseball. Of course, it is not certain that we will win big in baseball, but it is not dumb for us to expect it.

I'm saying that saying "he will be good 5 years from now" is stupid. It ain't about gall, that's just too far off to guess. A whole lot could happen to a program in five years. He hasn't coached a single game, and y'all seem to have already decided what the next ten years about, and yeah, as a fan of another school, I find it kind of dumb.

I'm sure y'all will do just fine, it's a solid baseball program.

And the only person who's said anything about it taking Cohen 5 years to turn things around is you. The original poster said it would take him 2-3 years to turn it around, and that sounds about right.

Two hot weekends. That's all it took.

More like one great pitching performance and a lot of help from Coastal Carolina blowing their home regional. It was painfully obvious which 1 of the 8 CWS teams that year didn't have any damn business being there.

...yes, indeed, it was a fluke. But on the other hand, Bianco and his boys would love to experience something so flukish.

I have a lot of fond memories of going to ballgames at Dudy Noble, but the two games against Clemson were probably a couple of the most memorable for me.

it was a bit of a fluke. We certainly did not finish the regular season or the SECT as the best SEC team. Our average SEC finish during the past 6 years was around 9 (if I remember correctly.) I'll give credit to Polk for winning SECT and making the CWS in his second stint as coach but overall it was a bust.

That's all it ever takes. You have to play consistent enough throughout the season just to make the tourney. Getting hot while you're there is what tourney's are all about. Otherwise, our '96 basketball team was just 'hot' for a couple of weekends since they went in as a 5th seed which equates to a national seed of between 17 and 20.

is amusing. I've heard similar projections from rebels about every coach you've hired in the big three sports over the past several years.
And you are wrong. It isn't dumb to believe a proven winner head coach can take a program like MSU baseball to success in a short period of time. We aren't basing our premise on faith, but on evidence of past success. So the only dumb post here is yours. Maybe you need to saunter back over to Nafoom.

Agreed, That was a blast. It was the best the atmosphere had been at Dudy Noble in quite a few years
