The most ridiculous thing I saw with Adidas was the basketball uniforms from Saturday. Adidas went all out in their design room to differentiate the two schools. It's the exact same design for both.

I don't have a problem with Adidas but at the same time, at least provide some originality for both schools. It's like State and A&M went to a "build a jersey" website and chose the same thing.

I actually spent a couple of minutes of that game wondering who in the hell our white player wearing #21 was before I realized, oh wait, that's an A&M player.

Yeah, there were a few times on Saturday after commercial breaks or timeouts where the players took the court and I was focused on A&M instead of MSU because of the uniform design and color.

In the ESPN article it sounded as if Adidas wasn't even interested. UA offered a ridiculous contract and was basically told what's up by ND. No signage because ND wants to be "Augustus-like" (their words).

Again, I like Adidas other than the A&M similarities. Give us what ND had but in maroon and white. Fixed.

Wrong

Notre Dame didn't like the fact that Adidas' highest paid/premier school was Michigan. So when NDs contract came up and UA made them a premier offer.

Our contract should be up for renewal this year I believe. I'd expect a GREATLY sweetened pot compared to what we had before -- which amounted to highway robbery once Mullen and Cohen got things going...

Having looked around in the South Carolina bookstore a time or two, I wish we had an all-sport deal with UA. Their gear is good.

I don't want the crazy Maryland unis, though...

Right! It's because Michigan had Adidas and they didn't like that!

They signed a 14 year contract maybe 5 years before NCAA football money got ridiculous. That's on them. Had they been available for a new contract when Michigan signed theirs I assure you ND would have gotten more.

I don't care about the details, all I said was that Adidas didn't seem all that interested. It appeared as if UA would have done anything to get that contract (i.e. agreeing not to advertise even though they agreed to give them $90m). Good for them. I'll take Adidas over UA all day every day. UA cleats are ****.

Just as long as Ole Miss doesn't get Adidas. In that case I will accept a contract with someone else on the principal of not supporting a company that also doles out money to those guys.**

Exactly...glad you agree

From January 9, 2014:

"Notre Dame's deal with adidas began in 1997. In 2005, the German shoe and apparel company signed a 10-year deal that lasted through this school year. When Notre Dame signed the deal, it was the top priority for adidas, but things changed when adidas began providing shoes and apparel for the University of Michigan in 2008. The deal that gives the Wolverines $8.2 million in cash and equipment annually is the largest deal in all of college sports."

I don't have a lot of insiders in the athletic department here, but the ones I do have tell me how much the UA equipment is disliked. When the deal was first in place my understanding was that Auburn football practiced in Nike cleats and only wore the UA ones on game day. Basketball is also not a fan of the equipment and a large part of the fanbase is convinced that the UA contract is one of the reasons the basketball team is so terrible. Barbee has deep Nike roots and doesn't make many inroads with Nike AAU players when his team wears UA.

It's not Adidas responsibility to order the uniforms. They simply just supply what we request. Whoever is the equipment manager or person at MSU in charge of uniforms isn't doing their job. This can be fixed THIS WEEK if MSU would stop being lazy about it. I'm pretty sure Adidas doesn't want both schools using the exact same prints either. Sounds to me like both parties don't want to be rude or MSU and aTm are both being stubborn. Those shorts are 17ing awful too. They look like swimming trunks.

My thing with UA is -- ALL of their stuff that I've been around is such high quality in the real world. I'd think that the low quality on some stuff would be a temporary restraint that gets straightened out pretty quickly...

Much like Notre Dame feels -- I think UA is just beginning to scratch the surface on the monster company they can become. UA allows a portion of their "payment" to Notre Dame to be deferred stock options -- and ND thinks that stock with be worth 10fold in 10 years. Hence why ND's decision was really a no-brainer...

Wasn't a big fan of UA

Until on a whim bought a UA pullover i found in the bookstore and it was the best purchase I have made in a while. Its warm yet not heavy and still looks new after the hell I've put it through. Also bought a Adidas sideline polo because I thought they actually looked nice this year...thread began to unravel after the second time I wore it.
