After that piss poor performance, we have to go back to the basics

Back to what enabled us to roll off 6 straight wins. Our offense is not talented enough to overcomeoffsides/false start penalties that put us in 3rd and long situations.The two things that absolutely must be corrected for us to have a shot at winning our last 2 games are the not wrapping up (poor tackling) and the false start penalties. We just aren't talented enough as a team to absorb those things. We have to play turnover-free ball and nearly penalty-free as well to win games. And we are still awful at coveringkickoffs. We continually get out of our coverage lanes and take horrible angles to the ball carrier. I cringe every time we kick off. Mullen needs to do something to refocus this team b/c we were clearly not mentally prepared to play last night.

The main reason they had so many false starts was because of the defense shifts and noise. I was at the game and it was pretty damn loud with 100K letting loose. We did have some terrible plays I just don't understand. The one coming out of the end zone was the one that rung my bell. Their defense is allot better than most people think. With us playing a run to pass ratio of 9-1 I'm really surprised we did anything on the ground. When we did pass they knew it was coming.

I'm sure if we had played Idaho on Friday night we would of looked much better.....

sometimes you play well and run into a buzz saw...sometimes you play poorly and get lucky...sometimes you play well and win...sometimes etc.

Last night MSU laid an egg.

What you said is true...and basics/fundamentals are extremely important. But the team just laid an egg. I for one am not going to make a big deal of it. State is 7-3...and that was not a game I thought we would win from before the season began.

prevented all year. I would feel much, much worse if they had sustained long drives on us. They didn't. We will be ok.
