That is what I suggested at some point midway in the season: just tell Sellers, "go do whatever you want to do". I don't think we would have done worse than 4-8.Letting Sellers improvise and run the ball on every play would have probably resulted in more tds. I really think playground ball where the plays were drawn up in the dirt would have been more successful.
In 11 games. Abysmal.
I don't think we scored in the 4th in that abysmal game. Believe we scored one against UK. Not sure about the other. Was another against SCSU?
He is a special player when he can play backyard football. Unfortunately, something changed that. Be it Shula or NIL. Throw in the preseason hype and he appeared to be protecting the product more than just playing like he did last year. Based on his bowl play, I’d lean heavily toward Shula planting that.Sellers did just go and do whatever he wanted. He stared down what he thought was his primary receiver and when the inevitably didn't get open he took a sack or jogged backwards out of bounds. It’s so odd because last year I could see in his eyes that he was about to take over and do something special. He could take the game over if he wanted. This year was deer in headlights and softly run out of bounds before any contact. He would put his head down for a few extra yards last year. Not this year.
