Do you think Mullen would be more likely to stay put in Starkville? Or do you think he will jump ship at the first opportunity he gets?

This will have no affect on him one way or the other. Why should it? Plus, you would never see this type of outrage from our fans. Which I really don't know if that is a good or bad thing.

the Urban Meyer situation is fluid. The other shoe is going to drop after NSD. The rest of the story is going to come out eventually.

Until that situation is stabilized, the question of Mullen's departure is unsettled.

he is offered the Florida job. That's a top 5 job and the only one he possibly could get offered at that level. Plus he has the natural built in ties there. Other than that I don't have any major concerns about him leaving until he gets a little more established here. Now if we went off for a 9+ win season next year that might change but for right now I think the risk he leaves is very low.

The key words being, "for the right job." If Tennessee offers him the job, he'll take it.

he coached at SC. He likes the Pac-10. He knows the area, the high schools, etc. He inherits the top program on the west coast. I would have been shocked if he DIDN'T take it.

I think he will leave, and he should leave.

We're talking about a coach. There are thousands of them around the country. If and when Dan leaves, we will simply have to hire another good one. That's what makes this Lane Kiffen stuff so ridiculous to me. It's not worth rioting over. Be upset- sure. But it shouldn't involve tear gas.

for Tennessee right now. 2 or 3 years from now, yes but not now. I think the only job he would leave right now for is Florida.

obviously money is not the only factor in a raise (but its usually the majority). But a better opportunity such as easier job, less competition, already built program, etc. i consider as other parts of the coaching raise. In regards to mullen, just about every other SEC school is a raise no matter what you factor in.

He would be stupid not to take it (strictly business). The only way I could see him turning down an offer, in which ALL of the benefits go up, would be if there were serious NCAA issues going on behind the scenes at the prospective school.

I don't see UT going after Mullen though, just my opinion.

it's only because their list of preferred candidates will have turned them down. Logic would say he would be far down on their list if he showed up at all. If they got to his name, they would probably try to get him on the cheap - making it more likely he would turn it down even if it came to that point.

I just believe that if Florida hires a new coach at this time, they are going to get someone with some real head coaching experience and record, not just one year. That is true whether the coach in question is one of their own, so to speak, or not. They are just too high level a program not to get a coach with a track record of success as a head coach.
