two of our three losses are not bad at all. Auburn still sucks. Next week could be for all the marbles for a 7 win season.

Lets hope South Carolina bends over...

ole ball coach is going to be a good test next week to see where we stand. If we can move forward with this new approach on offense with setting up the run by spreading out the defense with a pass threat then we have a chance at 7 wins but we are gonna have to bring our A game this Saturday.

The Georgia defense makes them the third best team in the SEC right now I believe. They could be a very good team before the season is over.

Auburn is not as bad as you think they are, and USC will beat us easily. We may keep it close early but it will be a comfortable win for them in the end. We're not a team that can be competitive with the upper tier of the SEC right now.

SC's dends (and probably their whole dline) will give us fits. We just don't have an OL that allows us to do much right now. Remember that UAB is the suck and they were giving our OL problems. And at this point, unless the rebels just totally quit on the reverend, they will be difficult for us.

under center before we write off the game and season....yes UAB sucks, but that 2nd half also had us opening running lanes... I think Russell may be faster and tougher than some are giving him credit for also... it's been a long time since I've seen a QB change make that much of a difference the way the other 10 played...we'll see...keep hope alive the next 5 days...

...although it hasn't in the past for MSU football. Let's just hope this really is a new era in MSU football. Still, to beat USCe we will have to play 100% mistake-free football (OK, maybe we can overcome 1 mistake). We have a lot of youth and inexperience on this team and it will be a difficult task to play to that level. I say give Russell a shot at starting. Unless something dramatically improves this week with Relf I think he gives us the best chance to win next week. Definitely want to see Carmon at LT. I'm almost inclined to believe that had as much to do with the "spark" as Russell did. It will be interesting to see how it all comes down next week.<div>

They've always had the tendency to win a big game, and then come out and stink it up the following week. Look at last year, they upset Bama and then come out flat and lose to Kentucky the next week.

And this year, they really haven't been all that impressive. Having to rally to beat ECU, barely nipping UGA and nearly dropping one to Navy. They were sluggish against Vandy and with all of the offensive weapons that they have, they could only muster 13 points against Auburn's defense. I'd almost rather Garcia start this week over Shaw in the hopes that he'd make a few bonehead decisions.

I don't think many are writing off the season yet. 6-6 is still a very good possibility and getting to that point is a success considering how bad our offense has been since Auburn. It's looking more and more like Relf will start against USC. I expect our offense to struggle. I just hope Russell doesn't have to come in when we're trying to play catch up.

I agree, though I don't really expect us to beat USC, but I'm hoping. Also, I am still bothered that we stopped competing in the second half of the LSU game. I doubt we could have won the game, but it bothers me that our whole organization seemed to give up even trying. I hope I mistook what I thought I was seeing, but I mainly hope that I never see it again.

I thought much of our problem was the o line being young. Russell proved yesterday that you can ease that problem just by completing passes down field. If the threat of the pass is there, they will not load up the box and the loading of the box is what gave our young line fits. I think SC offense is not that good. They have been having many of the same problems we have been having. That's why you saw that crazy *** formation yesterday. Running tricky **** like that against KY. They got problems if they are having to that. You save that stuff for more challenge games. Shut down Lattimore ( spelling) you shut them down. Our defensive backs can play with their receivers. Our defense will keep it close and if the offensecan complete some long passes to keep them honest we will have a chance to win. Correct me if I am wrong but our defense has only allowed six points the past six quarters? That's damn good no matter who you have been playing.</p>

Great post Big D, exactly what I have been saying since ladt week. Tyler's at his best on a pre-read 3 step or 5 step drop. Then it takes oressure off your O line. Keeping the safeties back w/ that passing game will create running lanes for Vick or Darius. Keep an eye on Jefferey vs Banks. If I know JB (and I feel like I do) he likes the spotlight & challenges. And boy oh boy, Jefferey is sure a challenge. In tge locker room during the Gator Bowl @ halftime, he was challenged by Manny to shut Roundtree down. He did. After they switched sides and he drew the assignment of LSU's elite WR, he also didn't make plays. I guess we'll see. Don't let them beating Kentucky like they did get you too scared. SC had dome trickeration to get that blowout. I hope Conner Shaw starts and Wilson finds a way to make him turn the ball over.

Our OL is awful. AWFUL. If we don't pull it together really fast, we are looking at a blowout loss to S Carolina.<div>

1. I think we may have a shot to win 6 games and go to a bowl game again. Following the OT win against LaTech and losing at halftime to UAB, I was having serious doubts that we'd even win 5 this year. Any more than that is a stretch, but at this point in the season, I'll be very pleased with 6 wins and a bowl.

2. Anyone thinking that TR is going to come out every game and do what he did last weekend is crazy. He's going to throw some balls up for grab every now and then, and he'll take some sacks for holding on to the ball too long. However, he's given me a lot of hope for the next couple years so I'm happy about that also. While he still has a lot to learn, there's no denying that he has some very good tools and any time that the entire rest of the offense picks its game up around a QB, that's a great sign.

We may lose the rest of our games this year with the exception of UTM, but I'm at least excited about them again. I don't think anyone knows exactly what's happened to Relf, but he was giving us little chance win ballgames. I hope he snaps out of it because no matter who starts now, we're going to need him at some point.
