1 We don't start our best linemen on either side of the ball. I don't agree with starting someone for "loyalty". Successful coaches start the best player at every postion. Jones should be starting on the dline and Clayborn on oline, period. There are others that are debatable.
2 if we continue to expect Dak to carry the ball this many times a game, he will be watching from the sideline before Halloween. And when he goes down, we're in trouble. We'd better be working with the freshmen.
3 JRob is just what we knew he was last year, a beast. Here again, if he goes down, we're in trouble. Better be working with the freshmen. Griffin and Shump are fullbacks. Holloway has some potential but he's mighty small.
4 Kicking game will take us out of some close games this year. This ones on you Dan. No excuse.
5 We've got great potential with our passing game. We have big receivers that can catch the ball (even Morrow is catching the ball) and also are willing to block. Don't know what happened yesterday with the miscommunication but hopefully that will be corrected.
6 We're playing 11-12 d linemen and 6-7 linebackers and all are good. We should be wrecking offensive lines and living in the backfield in the 3rd and 4th qtrs. wtf?

I agree! No reason for Jones to not be starting! But as long as he is playing the majority of snaps, then I'm happy. And I'd like to see Shump playing more snaps

1. I agree. As for DL. Eulls is not the best, both Jones's need to be out there from jump. Preston and R. Brown at ends.
2. Unfortunately, if we want a chance to beat the big boys, Dak will have to do it with his legs. It is what it is.
3. So do we pull the redshirt off of Aeris Williams? MSU will always have great RBs. Throw him in the mix. Look how many are committed for the next class.
4. I agree. Complete failure. We may lose 2 games due to lack of a kicking game.
5. Great WR corps. Just gotta use them in a smart way. Still too many routes that do not play to their strengths.
6. Agree. Each time UAB threw deep yesterday, if we get a better pass rush, the big play doesn't happen for them. D. Turner and Collins will be hard on those guys this week.

This isn't basketball where you rest your starters at the end of the qtrs. But it is like basketball where you need your sixth man to be a dominant scorer. Playing C.Jones with the 2nd group balances out the DL - less drop-off from A to B. If you show me that the A's are playing two series more per game, then yes I agree with you.

I didn't see Clayborne at all yesterday. Did he play?

As for D-line, I think we play it the way we do for a reason. If we put our best 4 D-linemen all on the same line, there would be a dropoff when the #2 unit comes in. And we WILL be rotating 2 D-lines because otherwise the starters would be gassed before the end of the 3rd quarter.

agree on all accounts. there is no such thing as 22 guys on defense that are equally good (or 14, assuming you switch out only the front 7). we need our best guys on the field every snap if they can go. just like an offense gets in a rhythm, the defense does it as well and its hard to get in a rhythm when you are getting benched ever other series.
