I'm glad the good guys won. I felt the officiating wasn't biased. The targeting was a miss, and I think Miami took better advantage of non calls- they held and interfered with every receiver. Both o lines got away with big holds. I would have liked calls consistent with the rest of the playoffs, so that we could have seen some pass game.

I agree that the officials seemed unbiased but I saw a huge amount of holding by both offensive lines. I'm not talking about holding around the numbers in the front of the jersey which is allowed. I'm talking about grabbing jerseys from side and behind.

Pass interference? I saw a huge amount during all the CFP games with only a few being called. The Ole Miss vs Miami game was shocking. Both defenses mauled receivers, Ole Miss more than Miami. That's why I laughed when Ole Miss fans were upset about the last play. The announcers tried to cover it up by saying, "If a receiver touches a defender then the officials tend to not call it." Sorry, if a receiver is being mauled and they try to get to the ball by separating themselves from a defender (who has no concept of where the ball is) that is interference.

I'd agree. I felt they stuffed the flags tonight and let the players, play. But I saw numerous obvious holding penalties.

I no longer understand what constitutes targeting, roughing the passer, offensive or defensive pass interference, or pretty much anything else these refs did or did not call.
I can some what buy into the "let them play" on the non-PI calls, but the targeting and how quickly both announcers were to dismiss it is puzzling. For the record I really didn't care who won and I absolutely hate the targeting rule as its currently enforced. Most are rightly referring to the hits on Mendoza, but at least in my opinion, the hit late in the game on the Miami receiver involved launching and helmet to helmet contact. But what do I know?

I hope it doesn't come to that. I want him to win next season. I don't want another year of losing.

College targeting should be like I think the NFL does it - 15 yard personal foul, and ejection after the 2nd offense. But no having to sit out following games.

The way it's done in college is too severe, but not as bad as it was at first when there was no review.

The referees decided not to get involved with the game and keep the flags in their pockets. Whether that was a decision they made themselves, or something told to them before the game, I don't know. They only called one holding penalty the entire game, and that one was so obvious they had to call it. And only called one DPI. All the other penalties were either pre-snap penalties like offsides or false starts, or facemask penalties.

Miami secondary was allowed to hold and tackle IUs receivers to keep,it close. if it was called tightly IU wins by quite a bit more.

They let them play.
Is the stupidest excuse for poor officiating. There are rules. When rules are ignored to "let them play" it is just as bad as being nit picky and calling every little thing. You effect the game either way. Also when you let them play you get inconsistent. When you finally call roughing the passer, there are multiple examples of the same or worse infractions you didn't call earlier. That one step clean hit in the 4th quarter that is called is not nearly as aggregious as the crown of the helmet hit to the head in the first quarter because you want to let them play. When is the holding finally crossing the new line you have setup that no one knows? You open up the perception that the fix is in.

Call it consistent from start to finish.
