I kind of have this feeling that SE sort of "knows" he is done. That little chat with the media he had seemed really odd.
It was. And I did not care for the B.S. about the players. They have not played with passion for 8 years. Today was no different.

What did Larry say?
Also how was Eichorst with media weird?

Ive been ignoring the TV today after our game, so appreciate recaps.

It was odd in the sense that he tried to really come off as this "leader" like, he was calling the shots and he was not happy. I don't know, it is hard to explain but it just seemed like a guy that knows he is losing it and starts telling everyone that he isn't losing it.

He is trying to look good on camera for his next job and will explain that he was let go because of unforeseen/uncontrollable circumstances.

Hey! Pull the rope from the same end! Quit being so divisive and get behind the team!

More of the season is going to have to play out before any moves made. I think it's pretty obvious the leash for both AD & HC got a whole lot shorter after today. Actually, I believe the AD's was shortened even before today. We'll just have to wait and see.

I disagree because a different athletic director would have noticed the current state of the Nebraska Basketball program and relieved him of his duties last year. He is actually lucky Eichorst is his athletic director.
With Eichorst failing to extend Miles again this was most certainly going to be a do or die year. Now with Eichorst out the door and the football program going under I'm not sure Miles will be getting his walking papers come March.

When Eichorst is fired which will happen at some point - the last stench of Harvey Perlman on the Athletic department will be gone - at that point we may start to rebuild

First he blamed the players but not the staff. The he called himself the leader and said we had great leadership. Honestly, leaders don't say this kind of stuff.

"They have to do better," Eichorst said. "The players have to do better. They have to prepare better for next week...

We will work hard and hunker down and we have great leadership. I will provide leadership, as I have to this point and continue to stay positive."

In the real world - Companies hold managers accountable for their overall performance. if overall things are good but one division is lagging then the manger of that division is lagging

NU - the AD and how the teams overall perform, sucks - that is on Eichorst and his ability to either hire or work with coaches to make them successful = Eichorst should be on the block

I can point out plenty of games where Husker teams played with passion the last 8 years. You got your wish. I thought you loved Eichorst. He could do no wrong by the way.
Games. No consistency. Need to bring it every week. Not even close to good enough not to.

Even though you have a hardon for Bo, he did have us within a couple plays of a conference championships in the last eight years. I can name other games his teams played with passion. It's a dumb statement. Riley has even had a couple games where the team played with passion against good teams. Now if you want to say they aren't winning as many games as you want or the games that matter okay. Any logical thinking person could see Riley was going to be a failure from the start and Eichorst didn't have a clue. The hate Bo crowd wanted Riley to succeed so bad because any coach can roll out of bed and win 9-10 games a year at Nebraska. For some reason Mr. Nice guy can't. There are no more excuses.

What is really odd - is the scary comparison of this team with 2007. Pedersen the AD gives Callahan a raise a couple of weeks before he is fired. Eichorst gives Riley a raise, now they are both on the hot seat and may be fired. Let's hope we don't see a replay of the 07 season, but, to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Like McNeese State? Iowa State? South Dakota State? There are a lot of others. It is not consistent, intensive effort. Bo got what he could after the talent he was handed left. Got quite a bit out of it. When was he close to a conference title? He was much closer to losing crap games like what happened today. Abdullah was not there to save the team today with amazing effort.
Careful bringing up Bo.... the triggering will start.

Didnt he recruit Abdullah and yes he was close in 2009 and 2010 and had a lead in both those games. but you know what forget Bo he deserved to get canned for his childish antics - that does not excuse what we have today

Did I say it did? Newsflash: I said today is unacceptable. And that includes effort

I do not give a rats *** about someone who "understands Nebraska football" or whatever. I care about a coach that wins ballgames and has the chance to compete for championships. The " Nebraska Football way" is outdated and a thing of the past. Give me a coach that can win some damn ballgames. To accept anything less is an insult to the game. The great coaches will attest to this I would assume. That is why Larry is a comedian and not a football coach.

You brought up the point we haven't played with any passion for 8 years. The when was he close to a conference title tells people how you don't know much. Anyone knows those two games could have went the other way. We did lose in the end, but those teams played with passion making your point about passion dumb. I can also go through examples of most programs where they play down to the competition at times. You were one of the people who thought a moron could win 9-10 games a year here. It's not that easy, and you put all of your faith in your boy Eichorst. Your boy made things worse in the end. The guy was never qualified to go on a one man search. Now we have Mr. Nice guy taking us to Oregon State levels. It wasn't really big shock for those with much common sense.

Close to a conference title. Lol. Other than that you are mostly correct. They must have run out of walls to run through during all those really close Conference title games. Lol.

To say we haven't played with passion in eight years is obviously stupid. But it makes sense to try and lump in Riley with Bo because it glosses over the fact that we have gotten considerably worse.

Are you really one of those guys that said any fool can win nine games a year here ?

Pelini's teams played with passion until the going got tough. Then they folded. Pelini is responsible for the lack of talent on this team also. Riley may not be the right coach, but Pelini was worse.

Well, statistically, no. You're wrong.
RIley has had a couple recruiting classes, the fact that he still plays a lot of Bo's players even though they were recruited for completely different O and D systems tells us how well Riley recruits and the results show us how he coaches
