Why are they giving their blessing? It’s happening with or without you. That wraps up aTm and their faux ego trips, “we give you our permission to move forward, but we didn’t ask for your permission, that’s ok you should have, and I give it to you anyway.”

Agree, I hate them. Little bro syndrome is bad enough (we have plenty of that in our fanbase), but then add arrogance to it, it's brutal. They have no basis for their arrogance, which I guess is what makes it arrogance rather than confidence. Their weird culture is why they haven't won anything, combined with the fact that Texas football talent is overrated per capita.

They are up there with Ole Miss and Auburn to me. At least Auburn has won a little bit, though.

Wrong. Politics is all about numbers and votes. All that crap about Clemson/FSU was due to those schools (SC, UF, maybe UGa and UK) banding together to not allow those other instate ones in. Simple votes. You know the discussion would go, South Carolina would say "Well Kentucky, we don't want Clemson in, so please vote against them with us (or never even let it come to a vote), and we will help you if Louisville ever wanted in..." and so on.

It's never as complicated as it seems. At no point did aTm ever give a vote to let Texas in before now, when they were essentially forced.

This was definitely the RUMOR that was floating around and this statement is probably aTm's way of trying to formalize that rumor by giving them an opportunity to show the world 'we had to say it was ok'... It may be 100% saving face but their statement backs up that rumor completely... if only in the eyes of aTm trying to say they have a bigger say in this than they do...

There’s nothing that says that there can’t be. Schools can vote however they want. And A&M wouldn’t ever be kicked out of the league due to their non-compliance to a not so subtle request from the SEC brass, either. That said, it’s pretty obvious that Sankey had to do some damage control, and definitely wanted the unanimous vote due to the ever important “optics”.

That rumor was always false. Even the A&M sources quoted it as a “handshake agreement”.

Well, I guess I'm going to be in the minority in this thread in that I like aTm, especially as compared to Texas and Oklahoma. Wife and I went to the MSU - aTm game in College Station a couple years back, and other than the early starting time and an unanticipated cold wind, we had a great time. Good folks and quite hospitable. I've met some true A-Holes over the years from both Texas and Oklahoma and their arrogance is without equal, except maybe by Alabama.
