If he is able to play 12 games I 100% believe he can put up the numbers to be in the discussion

I am very concerned that it is a big if. He's gotta learn not to try and truck people when we are down 20 or up 30.

When was the last season we had a QB start all 12 games? Too lazy to check, but I think just once under Mullen…2010?

Something to consider.

You're right...

What games did Russell not start in 2012?

Like I said, lazily did not look it up.

Still, I'd say there's a higher chance Dak misses a start next year than making all twelve. His play style is going to open him up to hits more frequently.

Tenth best QB on the list, one of only two SEC QBs mentioned, ... but how many stars did he have?

Captain Obvious here - but I do think it is vitally important for Dak to be available as much as we can get him. Part of that is managing his role when we are up and down big as stated before - another is keeping him available for key parts of the games. The 2013 Egg Bowl is a prime example. If we had started him, he would not have been able to be there late. So, what I am saying is not to limit his ability to extend plays, but rather keep the QB dives/draws when everyone is expecting a run to a minimum until needed late in games.

and there is the rub

This ^^^^
I wouldn't even start his *** against our cupcake nc opponents. We have to run the ball to take the pressure off of him.

I'd do that as well, as it will more likely keep him healthy, and thus increase our chances of a better season. But, it would also suppress his numbers and make him a less likely heisman candidate. I'm all for keeping him healthy.

You can't just not start your starters in those games. But you can pull your QB at halftime if you've got a big lead.

"Let him play football. We need this distraction." The program needs a face. He can be a household name by November.
and there are residual affects to him being on this list as well. High school players all across the country will know who he is and Where he plays. It's going to help us a lot with Branding these next few years.

Knowing Dak he would rather be a champion than a hiesman trophy winner. He'll do whatever it takes.
