From this mornings CL:

<span class="pp"></span>Contacted Monday, Bridge said he plans to transfer after his benching. He has visited Mississippi State and is "hoping" for a scholarship offer.

What say you WR or QB? Would be a great WR with speed

Great athlete.<div>
</div><div>QB? I'll leave that judgement up to Mullen. I don't want another Chris Relf, an athlete trying to play QB.</div><div>
</div><div>Would love to have him somewhere on the team.</div>

Oh wait, that doesn't appear to be a prerequisite for MSU receivers. Carry on.

Maybe let him walk on at WR, but I really doubt even that. I think when a player transfers up to I-A he has to sit out a year anyway. Realistically, his options are another I-AA school or a II school.

I thought he looked fast. Maybe that was some drunk lumberjack using the second-hand on his wristwatch to time him.

He's tall. His top-end speed is probably great once he gets his stride, whereas his acceleration may not be anything special. He had a ton of space and a great block in those first few yards during the play he smoked us. Once he got 20 yards or so down field he was really moving. It didn't appear that we gave up on that play either.

Just because someone is fast and tall, that doesn't mean he can catch or is going to be a good WR. How did O'neal Wilder work out for us? With that being said, I would prob offer him a walk on spot. No Scholly though

think we offered a QB from Petal and one from Oxford .... (this doesn't translate to pass on him )

Ingram was clocked at like a 4.65 40 in the combine... and I'm pretty sure he had several 80 yard touchdowns where he outran out entire defense. The QB to WR transition, in my opinion, is more often a success (in regards to catching) than not.

At 6'5'' and a year with Balis where he'd legitimately probably end up running a 4.6 40 (same height and speed as Plaxico Burress)... I think he's worth a shot. Tell him to walk-on and earn a scholarship during his time sitting on the bench for a year. If anything make him gain solid weight and be a TE.

If he wants to transfer to another SWAC school, he has to sit out TWO years... Mississippi State is his best bet. If we want him he's ours.

*** O'Neal Wilder wasn't a football player. He was an athlete who we asked to play one of the most athletic positions on the field because he was fast and was tall. No a good example.

we do not know that if he can catch or effectively run routes. Moving from QB to WR isn't like moving from left field to right field. If he is a good athlete, he may could develop into one, but giving him a scholarship and hoping to develop him is a waste. I'm in favor of asking him to walk on but not giving him a scholly.

but I aint gonna get too excited here. I have a feeling he would come in. We would get really excited. Then he would dissapear on the depth chart. We all thought Brandon Maye would be beast too, so far, just bust.

I think for the most part everyone on here thought Maye would be the backup. It was the general consensus that people like that transfer because they can't get it done at home... he lost his job to a freshman. There were a few that had wishful thinking he'd be good... but... I'm not buying that.

Bridge is looking to transfer because he got buried on the chart because he had a new coach that didn't recruit him that wanted to play a pro-style offense, and he is quoted as saying that part of the reason he benched him is because he tucks and run too much. So do I want him at QB? No, but I think he could translate very well to WR if he's willing to come in on a walk-on spot and work his *** off for a scholly. Kid is a freak athlete that got overlooked because he's from Canada. I think he's worth the investment of offering him a walk-on spot without ruling out a scholarship in the future and coaching him up in the weight room and on the field.
