What's the deal with Allen? Damon & Gary made several inuendos (sp) that he's hurt. Possibly for entire year? Anyone know the scoop?

When you don’t have live tackling in practice is the biggest reason the players don’t get their bodies into playing condition
I have heard this a number of times now but, I have also heard that a lot of teams don't do live tackling in practice. What's true?

You don't want to overdo tackling in practice, just like as a fighter you don't want to be taking knockout shots in camp. That is bad. But not tackling at all in an effort to prevent injuries is much like trying to lose weight by simply not eating. The body doesn't work like that. Sure you'll lose weight really fast/not obtain injuries but that's short term and you create a long term problem. Rather, much like eating healthy and in moderation to stimulate the metabolism, you simulate the violent collisions the body will face on GameDay so you can activate the resilient properties all of our bodies have. Like tearing down muscle and building it back up when lifting weights, the body will realize it's facing these opposing forces(tackles) that send serious vibrations throughout the body and start to change itself in an effort to hopefully take it head on easier the next time it's forced to deal with the opposing forces. This process uses more calories as the body is now working hard and that causes fatigue sooner, but that goes away over time or at least reduces itself as it becomes more used to the hitting. Not tackling at all is why we saw the entire team look completely gassed vs NW by the middle of the 2nd quarter, because it was the first time their bodies started to change itself. Playing fatigued like that is dangerous and opens you up to more injuries as the body is occupied and working overtime when they should've already been prepared

What team has the hardest practices in college football? You guessed it. Alabama.

Coastal Carolina does. Makes me doubt someone like Jaime Chadwell far less even though he'd come from Sun Belt.

At least he can redshirt this year. Ervin showed that he's back to full health and was running hard against Oklahoma (even though it was their backups).

Injury is never a good thing for sure but at least the silver lining, if there is such a thing, is that he still can redshirt. This season unfortunately was going to be a waste any way. I just hope he comes back strong and doesn't transfer out.

If Applewhite goes away, likely so does AJ.

Unless our new HC brings a legit new RB coach of his own and convinces Allen it's in his best interests to stay and shine
Depending on who the new head coach is, he would be smart to retain both Mickey and Applewhite from the offensive side.
