SEC-only stats:
State (SEC rank)Alabama (SEC rank)
BA0.264 (7th)0.294 (4th)
SLG%0.412 (10th)0.498 (5th)
OB%0.359 (7th)0.360 (6th)
OPS0.771 (10th)0.858 (5th)
ERA4.68 (2nd)6.71 (11th)
OPP BA0.231 (3rd)0.271 (9th)
FLD%0.985 (2nd)0.975 (T-10th)

Alabama has the best hitting stats and the worst pitching stats we'll see the rest of the year.

Looks like it's our pitching vs. their hitting.

Crazy to me that pitching and defense is carrying this team.

Always have said good pitching beats good hitting.
We’ll see if we have good pitching AND good hitting this weekend.
If we want a serious shot to potentially host we HAVE to go 3-1 this week.

Alabama is bad on the road. 2-7 in SEC play on the road. They have 1 quality pen arm, and their 3rd starter as an ERA over 10 in conference play.

Their RPI is solid b/c they've managed to go 7-5 against UT, USC, Ark, TxAM-- but all those series were at Home.

We should get 2 of 3 with a good shot at getting a sweep.

Governor's Cup+a sweep likely puts us 18th in the RPI.

The problem is going up from there will be damn near impossible.

correct.

I think i saw where if we play the last 4 (una, 3 with missouri) our RPI will drop 7-10 points even by going 4-0.

Bama is good and this is a big series for them for hosting purposes too. Loser of this series will almost certainly be on the road in June, winner still is alive to maybe host.

Gonna be a vicious series for sure. Both teams trying hard to make that final push for regional play. I watched BAMA the other day and they were ripping the ball all up and down their lineup. Probably their best hitting team as long as i can remember. We will definitely need to score 10 runs or more in order to win. Of course, i said the same thing about the UGA series and it was low scoring. We could lose 2, but we also have the ability to take 2 or 3 from them. I'm expecting a competitive series. BAMA is the only team so far to take 2 from ARKY. They are much better than they've been in a long time.

Despite Alabama having better offensive stats across the board, State scores more runs than Alabama.

State: 6.14 R/game
Alabama: 5.95 R/game
