I've been using my Apple Watch to track my workouts and heart rate throughout. Unfortunately, the watch does very poorly with interval training where your heart rate is fluctuating dramatically. I ordered a Polar H10 chest strap to better monitor my heart rate while working out. Now I need to find a solid workout app with Apple Watch compatibility and that pairs with the chest strap. FITIV Pulse is one that has good reviews and meets my needs. Does anyone have experience with this app/setup, or does anyone have other recommendations for heart rate and workout tracking?

Many thanks and apologies for not adding to the COVIDS pot stirring.

Those things are amazing. My wife is a type one diabetic. She has a pump and sensor. She has a dedicated receiver for the sensor but she also has a an app on her phone that does the same thing and does a much better job with the data. It sends the glucose readings to her watch. No fumbling around looking for it when the alarm goes off.

How well does it work once you start sweating?

The limited experience I’ve had with heart rate monitors has only been with ones on my wrist, which go to crap once I start sweating. Without pairing to a smart watch, how do you know the heart rate? Some other indicator worn on your wrist?

For me the watch works fine if your heart rate isn't fluctuating. So if I'm jogging and keeping my heart rate consistently at 150, it's accurate, compared to a chest strap. If I'm running intervals, it can't keep up with the rate changes. Sweat seems to have no effect, or maybe it does, and I notice it during fluctuations. Polar chest straps will pair to most machines, Polar watches and (if blue-toof) phone apps.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 235 watch that includes heart rate monitor in the watch (no chest strap). I have been very pleased. I use the Garmin Connect App for data on workouts. I don't think it has the functionality with other apps as an Apple watch would have, but I'm not very tech oriented.

I’m not ruling out operator error on my end, but I also sweat a lot. Whatever I’ve used in the past has always worked fine at first, but starts acting up as I sweat more. Of course it could also be like your experience that it may have more to do with not keeping up with the heart rate changes.
