Bowie wrote and produced the song for Mott errrr...Mutt the Hoople as a present to get the band on the charts. Bowie is also on the backup voice work. This was shortly after the Ziggy Stardust record had made him the hottest artist in music.

Side note: The lead guitar for Mutt is Mick Ronson (recently deceased) who is the father of Samantha Ronson. You may remember her as Lindsay Lohan's butch "friend" as she was spiraling out of control.
