the streak. Dammit we got shut out by the freakin' Marlins. A professional RAT on the mound tonight. ****.

You NEVER talk about streaks in baseball. Damn I'm pissed.

Don't worry. You can still lose 19 more in a row....

....before there is really time for concern

Jim Joyce played a much bigger part in ending streak than us on sps. His zone was really bad tonight particularly on right handed braves.

I'm more worried about walden's hand than the loss though. Don't need him hurt

You think that's bad?

MLB.com has run a BeatTheStreak contest on their site for several years. It initially started with a $1million prize, but now has grown to a $5.6million prize. The goal is to choose any MLB player you'd like to get a hit on each day. Build a streak of 57 games and you win the prize.

Tonight, a guy with a 47 game hit streak chose Justin Upton. I believe the 47 was the longest streak in the history of the game, which has run for at least 7 years now, if not more.

For the record, my longest is 26.

Joyce missed one call... which didn't lead to anything at all.

He's one of the best in the business.

ETA: the only call I thought he missed bad was where the Marlin reached base on a 2-2 count (would have been strike 3) was at the bottom of the zone. Other than that, I thought he called a solid game (after the first inning).

Not tonight. He missed all 3 on Chris Johnson and then threw him out when he shouldn't have. On all right hand hitters he was way too wide though. Janish call to end game wasn't even close. He got uggla on another really wide one

Our manager cost us the game.

Pinch hitting McCann to face Dunn was bad enough, but letting Janish bat in the bottom of the 9th is just idiotic. Might as well let the pitcher hit. any time Paul Janish is the last out in a 1 run game, then by definition the manager lost the game.

the only reason Janish is even on the roster is to save face for having signed him in the offseason. should have just cut him, but somebody didn't have the stones. it's not like he's Simmons good with the glove, there's just no reason to be carrying him.

I didnt like pinch hitting McCann either with Heyward (2 lefties in a row) on deck. I don't think we had an infielder left to pinch hit for janish. I would've taken my chances with terdo though. Terdo played some 3b in the minors
