Nobody expected us to be good this year. I just want to see signs throughout the season that we are headed in the right direction. So far I have liked what I have seen, well except for secondary
**** sandwich we have been chewing on.
Some folks just like to gripe because they are having to wait on their biggie-sized meal.

Folks can holler for blitzes and stunt packages but when you don't have a Smoot out there that can cover one on one, you just cannot blitz like hell. Mullen has his work cut out for himself to get some better folks on that side of the ball. When you think back to the badass defenses we had you could name off 7 or 8 headhunters on the team that year. This year...how many can you name?

Blitz, no blitz, rush 10, rush 2...whatever. Our defensive personnel across the board just are not up to SEC standards, so I can't see it making any difference right now no matter what we are running or how we run it.
Just based on the first two games, I am not so sure any progress has been made. Sure some things are different. The offense moves the ball. But has far more penalties and turnovers. Which nets the same results as last year. Yeah, yeah, 17 points vs 2. However, really the offense has put together one drive tonight.
The defense is worse. No question.
Special teams. Slightly better.
Overall.......to early to call.
But the bottom line is......the talent is woefully lacking on the offensive line and defensive side of the ball.

do very well this year to begin with. I don't really care for 3 down on the DL either, or how we are doing things but I really don't believe it would make a difference. But hell, I have been wrong many times before. I have seen enough tonight and am heading to have drinks with the guys and watch other games at the waterhole. Here's to Mullen bringing in some new headhunters for our defense next season and maybe a JUCO OL or two.
That was the main thing I was saying pre-season about your team. I figure your offense will be improved, but I don't know that it will be improved enough to make up for your defense. I still could be wrong on that, and maybe AU's offense is going to roll a lot this year, but based on what you lost on the D, I have been expecting your defense to take a step back.
