She realistically could be a beast on the LPGA. I hope she makes it. I just wish MSU didn't underperform like it did as a golf school in general. Every kid in Mississippi grew up playing golf almost, and MSU is home to one of the best turf programs in the country AND right next to one of the better golf courses in the south. No excuse for the state course to be the ******** it is. Sometimes I think the PGA program hurts too... the best golfers on campus are ineligible to play.
That's Jim's third child. Her older sister, Mary Langdon, will be a senior on State's golf team this year. Kathleen might be the best player in the family when it's all said and done. By the way, she beat Ally this year to win the Women's State Am at Old Waverly. She's 16 and being recruited by everybody.Jim Gallagher's kin (niece maybe? Hell, it may be his daughter). She's still in HS I think. And Bama's lady golf program is after her, along with several other big time SEC programs.
You sir couldn't be further off base. PGM students are ineligible to play NCAA golf because getting their PGA card is part of the curriculum. And all of them? No. But I bet you the top 5 guys in the PGM program could outperform the bottom half of the golf team.If you're implying that the PGM students are the best players on campus, you couldn't be further off base. Also, there's nothing that prevents the PGM students from being on the golf team...except their own lack of ability.

And I don't know what happened to the state course either. When I went up there in high school it was really nice, but all 4 years I was in college it was a dump. The greens were the worst part. Like all things it probably came down to money, and I would guess that a public golf course tied to a university would be the first thing to get its funding cut.
You're right. I sent one a text and he said people don't do it because it's discouraged and it requires a lot of time. I was under the impression they weren't allowed. Well...PGM students are still college students, not professionals. They are earning points toward their PGA membership, but they are NOT apprentices and are therefore not professionals. When I was on the team, we had a PGM students on the team that went on to work at Class A PGA Professionals.
This is from the PGA website, "Students in the university program are not considered apprentices because they are not required to be eligibly employed as they complete their course work."
If the top five PGM students were as good as players on the golf team, they would be on the golf team. All they have to do is walk-on or earn a scholarship.
