ever tried doing your own manual Sand Point well? I want to try to do one for times when the community water is down, for watering all of our critters outside, watering the garden, etc. Two winters ago we had some ice in Starkville and limbs broke and pulled wires down and there was no electricity to our little water association wells, pumps and tanks for almost 2 days. Two days of backed up toilets isn't fun, I ultimately drove in the ice over to a friends house and filled up igloo coolers for flushing water.
I've been watching University of YouTube videos and have seen some guys be successful w/out too much trouble and some not hit anything after 40'+ and working their azzes off. The pitcher pump, sand point, and drive pipes will run me a total of about $400ish depending like a professionally drilled one on how far down you have to go. My lot is a couple acres and at the very bottom of a long hill and after a rain the water stands in the yard for a day or two so I don't think I'd have to go far down. Any experienced self drillers out there?

Just realized "self drilling" kind of reminds me of the other thread about "cranking your hog"
