Am I the only one who thinks we are about even with Auburn?

I think that our weakness is our secondary and mabey their DL vs or OL but other than that we are pretty even.

You are not alone. I think Auburn's success in the early part of this decade was a direct result of Bama's problems (probation & coaches). Shula started getting players and now Saban has been getting all of them. Auburn's talent has fallen off and now I think their coaching has as well. We will definitely know tomorrow night.

I'm sure you aren't the only one, but I thnk that such sentiment is misguided. Auburn struggled last year, but they still have talent. They also still have many players who know what it's like to win from prior seasons. And even though La. Tech won't be the toughest opponent on their schedule, you can't overlook the 556 yards they racked up against a 1-A team that beat MSU last year. For reference, MSU put up 410 yards against JSU.

I predict at least a 2 TD win by Auburn, maybe something like a 31-14 score.

as I said in the 2daves this week, if Dixon shows up and plays like we all know he can, that give us the edge, otherwise I give it to Auburn for home field. Dixon has been very good about not putting the ball on the ground, and with him actually in shape (as the whole team is now), I think he'll be more productive.

Both of these teams are close talent-wise, Auburn has a little more depth, Mstate has a better group of coaches. Chizik was 5-19 as a HC while Mullen was an integral part of Florida owning the nation, winning two BCS title games. ****, the Suburban Trunk Monkey could have known what Croom & Woody were going to call, Auburn will actually have to think about what we may do,

Auburns defensive line is a weekness. They are fat and out of shape. I guess this will make for a good matchup up front.

Overall we are close to even. We have better coaches. Top to bottom, starters are a push. Auburn has better depth. We have better Freshmens.

Its gonna depend on who shows up and plays to their ability.

someday. Selling Auburn`s coaching staff too short at this point is way short sighted.

Agree completely about Malzhan. He was actually on my list as possible candidates for our head coaching job.

but they did give up a 93 yard passing play. I will admit that the 300 yards rushing is pretty big.

it will depend on our run game. If our run game is on, we've got a chance. If we can't run, we're sunk.

Auburn DL is vulnerable. did i spell that rite, er, write?

I think we'll know within the first 5 minutes if we can hang or not. We need to get out of the gates fast.

I think he's one of the most over-rated assistant coaches in the country.

they scored in the 40s, 50s, and 60s before he was there, and he was only CO-OC. Which leaves his freaking high school record for people to base this wunderkind assessment on. He is nothing more than internet legend created by whackjob Arkansas fans.

internet legend is a great description of him. He's a product of psychotic message board denizens.

Chizik was a definite downgrade from Tubby. Anyone who says otherwise is smoking crack. Mullen is an obvious upgrade from the Walrus (many single-celled organisms would be as well). They beat La Tech, but it was tight until the 4th quarter. I really think this will be a close game.

I'll take my chances with Hudspeth over Malzahn. Gus is a good coach, but he's not the god some make him out to be.

My theory is they got a lot of yards and points because the ****** defenses were even more unorganized because Tulsa was getting their plays off within 20 seconds of the last play ending. I expect SEC defenses will be much more organized against that kind of time pressure and will be much more successful in stopping them.

And let's not forget how much success the other internet legend created by whackjob Arkansas fans, Mitch Mustain, is having at USC.

I had never heard of the guy until I was told last winter(by someone in the athletic department) that he had some support in the MSU athletic department to be interviewed for our head coaching job and then I started finding out more about him. He may or may not ever reach coaching superstar status but saying he is where he is today because of "psychotic message board denizens" makes you kinda look like a "psychotic message board denizen".

and he didn't do anything at Arkansas the year before. So why is he highly thought of? I'm assuming you've heard this from the "coaching community" around the country. The only reason he was ever even given a job in college was to sign the guys who played for him. He has never done a single damn thing in college. Seriously. And the only person who would have considered him for head coach would have to be LT. No one else would hire a guy who was in high school two years ago, and wasn't allowed to call plays his first year and was co-OC the second year. Great resume.

would his becoming successful make Nutt look bad or something. I mean you almost sound like you`ve been stalking the guy.

actually, probably 100% of the smart ones do. It's been a pretty big sports story. I knew it when Nutt was still at Arkansas, it was huge drama.

But I think DS wants people to stop digging up old threads and bumping them. Just post a link to it instead to make your point.
