I remember Richard Madison " The Master Blaster".Pope is aware of Amari and lackadaisical play but other than taking him out, there is not much he can do about. Richard Madison is another guy that had talent but didn’t mind watching from the bench.

Ccc no longer at uk. Williams was considered one of the best big men in the portal, if not the best. Don't think he can accept that he can no longer give half hearted effort and still dominate like he did at Drexel. Pope tries to start him off on a good note by getting him an easy shot to start the game. When he hits, he has an OK game like ul. When he misses we get a game like tonight. Would much rather see him miss a dunk instead of putting up a shot like a grade schooler. How at 7' do you miss layup after layup?? Dunk it and draw a foulSometimes you make promises you gotta keep?
Amari is a great passer……
That’s about it. I had high hopes since he was DPOY in that conference but good lord….hes awful.
I knew it was going to be a long day when he forced our first shot of the game and hit glass and no rim on his shot. That trip where he missed all 3 FTs (got the extra one on the lane violation) was so frustrating. He is easily the best passer on the team. Problem is hes zero threat to scores especially more than 5 feet out. Completely negates his passing and kills our offense.
The 5 man initiator is the weak point of this offense. If they cant shoot, its not going to excel.
I'm starting to wonder if everyone in that conference was a midget or something. I can't think of one game this year that Amari played good defense.Amari is a great passer……

To be fair, drawing a foul is a negative offensive play if it’s not an and-1. His FT shooting is abysmal.Ccc no longer at uk. I think we have issues across the board. But for a coach to continue thinking Amari Williams starting at the 5 is going to give you the best chance to win - that’s baffling.OP acts like Amari is the only problem on this team lol. Hell Carr did basically nothing tonight either. Blows my mind how many open threes Carr passes up every game.
I never thought Poythress was lazy. He was timid and lacked confidence, IMO.That is the way I remember him. Plenty of talent, just no desire, lazy....like poythress was
We need to move Carr to the 5. That's the "tweak".He is easily the best passer on the team. Problem is hes zero threat to scores especially more than 5 feet out. Completely negates his passing and kills our offense.

Oweh and Butler are the best players on the team.Oweh had 21 points tonight, he was the only offense we had tonight.
And one of them bricks more layups than he makes.Oweh and Butler are the best players on the team.
Rather him trying to pass like Magic than trying to back players down like Hakeem.I hate Amari’s lapses and lack of effort at times.
I do think we need quality minutes from Amari if we go anywhere special as a team. There’s times when he looks like a man among boys. Then, he thinks he’s Magic Johnson.
OO was 4-13 which is terrible but made 13 free throws- 2 rebounds in 30 minutesOweh was weak too. Never seen a guy brick so many close range shots.
Wondering if Carr is trying to be too much team instead of being concerned with scoring. Much rather him shoot than WilliamsOP acts like Amari is the only problem on this team lol. Hell Carr did basically nothing tonight either. Blows my mind how many open threes Carr passes up every game.
Last year was a contract year. Might be a thing with some players. One thing that is kind of a mystery is how he got defensive player of the year in his league a couple of years. Also I think he only averaged 17 minutes a game last year, we know he can play because the game someone pushed him it lit a fire and he was very effective after that. If the brightest lights and biggest stage doesn’t motivate you, nothing is going to.

I hate it when they have all the talent in the world but don't put out.He had the talent but didn’t put out, he was a bust in college. He did contribute, but not like he was projected to do. I never said he was a star, I said he had the ability to be one, but he didn’t care enough to reach his potential.
I don't think they missed a mid range jumper all game.Wouldn’t say weak link.. The whole team looks like crap.. OSU is also hitting everything under the moon ..
Didn’t look like it. Bet they won’t shoot like that again all year ..I don't think they missed a mid range jumper all game.
Carr has had some success backing down players inside and hitting half-hooks and fade-away and getting dunks off the pick and roll. However, when he tried that too many times against OSU, they were ready for it and stripped the ball from him. Carr can hit the 3-ball, but is not comfortable there.Wondering if Carr is trying to be too much team instead of being concerned with scoring. Much rather him shoot than Williams
The body language has me more concerned than how he plays. He does some good stuff as a passer and if he gets the ball in the post he's pretty strong with it. But he has enough bad/sloppy plays that seem to get to his head, and by halftime of every game it seems like he's glowering and his energy wanes. I think back to the offseason when Garrison committed and Pope had to make an emergency flight to see Williams to keep him committed...Amari didn’t play good . But so did play everyone not named Oweh…. I could think of at least 2 players that did worse than Amari today.
However, I agree roles need to be re-defined.. Amari body language right now is not looking what is supposed to be.
. .
Still has some lazy moments, especially with his fight for some boards that Brown snagged. I know he's not Oscar, but some of those boards are 100% effort boards.Shout out to Amari. He's played really well today. When we get this version of Amari, we are very good.
“Really well” is pushing it. He made some free throws and scored against undersized dudes. He’s been killed on the glass. This is just another reminder of what SEC dudes are about to do to him.Shout out to Amari. He's played really well today. When we get this version of Amari, we are very good.
Also worth noting that the dude has ZERO rebounds with 11 minutes left in the game.Shout out to Amari. He's played really well today. When we get this version of Amari, we are very good.
Amari steal your girlfriend?...take a breathAlso worth noting that the dude has ZERO rebounds with 11 minutes left in the game.
No, but that is absolutely inexcusable from our starting center playing against a mid-level Ivy team. And a lot of that lack of rebounding is simply being lazy and letting others get balls he should get.Amari steal your girlfriend?...take a breath
Amari played pretty well, he definitely needs to rebound better. Overall he had a decent game and he made his FT’s.No, but that is absolutely inexcusable from our starting center playing against a mid-level Ivy team. He played pretty good. Shot 80% from the field and the line. 3 blocks. Zero turnovers. Should have got more rebounds but overall played a very solid game.“Really well” is pushing it.
