I've heard some people say that Coach K said in his post game press conference after last night's game that Amile's cast is going to come off on December 26th, has anyone heard anything about it?

The plan is to keep the cast on until he's back on campus on 12/26, when they'll remove it and see how the injury is healing. It doesn't require surgery, just patience and a little luck.

The injury happened several days ago, when Amile dove for a loose ball in practice. From his press conference it's clear that Coach is planning on Amile returning this year. He specifically described "holding down the fort" until Amile gets back.

Video of Coach K's press conferences are always posted on goduke.com after every game, you can watch them for free. There's also usually player interviews and highlights posted after every game.

I heard Capel say on the weekly radio show that Obi is working hard to get into shape and may see some time in games with a slower pace. That's about as revealing a statement as we ever get about guys, and it's pretty easy to connect the dots and see why he has only played 5 minutes all year.

Marshall's minutes will increase. Chase's minutes will increase. Brandon will see more time at the 4 and Luke's minutes will increase in more 3 1/2 guard sets. I agree that our rotation will just absorb Amile's minutes into the PT of guys already getting minutes.

It really is amazing that he would not be in shape at this point. I mean, he had a year to work out in the weight room and practice with the team. Did I miss something in that he was nursing an injury over the summer? What a great opportunity gone by the wayside if he came into the season out of shape. Unfortunate.

If it was, it was an overuse injury. He actually did a fair amount of good work this summer. He was even dunking from a standstill which he couldn't do before. Maybe something slight set him back, but I had always gathered that he was on a good path.
