An earlier thread was about how good "Lost" is

That's good, because we need one good action show. 24 absolutely sucks. A couple of years ago a friend harassed me into watching for the first time. Bauer (sp?) was being chased across a field by the bad guys in a car. He did a tuck and roll, fired through the back window several times, and killed them all. Then the camera shows him jump in the car and speed away, back window intact. Fast forward to this year, a few weeks ago he was tied to a chair having the crap beat out of him by a renegade cop. He escaped, and 5 minutes later he was good - not a mark on him. Now he has been stabbed in the side and tortured, and still runs like an olympic athlete. Un-frickin believable, in every sense of the word.

the first four seasons - especially Season 3, were oustanding. If they would have ended it even with Jack walking away from Audrey in Season 4, it would have gone down as one of the greatest shows ever.

Seasons 5-8 have not been near as good.

Season 1 - a new premise. An assassination attempt on a senator running for president with a mole in CTU. Awesome.
Season 2 - Nuclear bomb goes off in the LA suburbs. Pretty good.
Season 3 - Jack undercover in Mexico. Return of Nina. Best season.
Season 4 - Kidnapping of Secretary of State and Audrey. Pretty Good.
Season 5 - starts to go downhill, although the deal with the Chinese at the end saves the season.
Season 6 - Another nuclear attack. China and Russia are pissed. Rehash.
Season 7 - moved to Washington to help with the rehashing, but didn't help. Had its moments, but worst season ever.
Season 8 - until this season. This has not been good.

he just pleaded for the show's details to contain consistency. Lost is one of the best written shows ever to appear on television, and the writers are incredibly keen on details.

Season 2 and the first half of season 3 were atrocious. It was obvious they were milking the series at that point and they started losing viewers.

They then limited the number of episodes per season, and gave a timeline for the end of the show. Because of that, the last 2 seasons have made it worth watching all the garbage in season 2. The show keeps you wanting more because it continuously asks questions.

It's the same reason Rome is one of the best Series on HBO, ever. A definitive end to the series after 2 seasons right as all the juicy stuff is ending.

24 has sucked the last 2 years because there is nothing left to be desired from the show and they are just redoing the same ideas over and over. Heroes is in the same boat. First season: people discovering their powers and their difficulty with them. Latest season: people discovering their powers and their difficulty with them.

Mad Men. Hands down, no question. Best written show on TV. And Joan is the sexiest woman on the planet.
