If we're comparing Shane to Spurrier that's fine but in year 5 ('09) under Spurrier we started to show promise, by year 6 we won the SEC East and years 7 thru 9 we had three straight 11 win seasons. No one can predict the future obviously but it's safe to say I don't see us sniffing the SEC championship game next year or winning 11 games in a season in the near future under Beamer. Instead in year 5 under Beamer, we've taken a big giant step backwards. Beamer's fifth season is more comparable to Muschamp who won 2 games all season (both SEC wins) and got fired after the season.

I tend to agree with Will Helms. Firing Beamer would not be wise right now. In spite of the current record, he has shown that he's building a program which is vastly more difficult in the portal and NIL era. Of course I'm disappointed in how this season has played out. However, I'm not sure starting over is the way to go. Like he said there aren't many coaches like Smart or Gignetti out there. Also, it appears many of our recruits are holding firm even though it's a down year. Granted Coach Beamer must find an OC that can right the ship. He also must fine some gems in the portal that can help us get back to winning against SEC competition.
