so meet him halfway. Tell him we'd love to have you back and there's no need to come to camp. Work with us in the offseason, throw with Harvin, Rice, Berrian, & Co, but don't worry about preseason. Just show up in time for Week 1. Hell, I hope he comes back. I think Favre proved he's still one of the top 5-10 active QBs in the game, regardless of age.

And he can change his mind ten times.

Right now he probably needs to learn how to walk again. I bet he is moving slow today. Interesting to watch his wife grimace each timethey showed her after he got hit yesterday. Bet his ankle is a nifty color of purple today, too. In my mind, today would be a poor day to ask him. Maybe in about a month when he begins to get bored and they start talking about who will replace him when he's gone.

all those guys busting their asses in the offseason and during the grueling summer workouts and this guy gets to show up whenever he feels like it? Nobody will say it publicly but guys will resent him for that.

I can't tell if that's sarcasm on your part, but apparently it didn't cause any problems this season. I don't know why they'd have a problem with it next season. He was, is, and remains their best chance to get to the Super Bowl. And regardless of his INT last night, they would have won easily and made it to the Super Bowlif they hadn't fumbled the ball away so many times.

I'll tell you this. If Favre makes any plans to come back, he better make sure they re-tool that OL. He was banged around a lot during the last half of the season, not just last night. Last night just finished him off. No quarterback, 25-40 years old, can be brutalized like that and survive. Props go to Favre for just just being able to walk off the field last night.

Dawgstudent had said earlier that Sidneys FB page hinted towards a decision today and then a vague headline by HD6 that I thought might be an update.

I would resent him a lot more if Sage Rosenfels is the QB.

I think this is a little bit different than a normal situation. Favre is almost 40. He was getting worn down by the playoffs. If I'm a Vikings player with a brain, I would have no problem with Favre chilling out and saving as much energy as possible. If he does break down during the season, having more reps for Resenfels or Jackson (if he's still on their team) may be more beneficial for everyone than having Favre take them in mini-camp.

Favre is a proven commodity and NFL vet who knows what it takes to win and be a team player. If he wants to skip mini-camp, I would have no problem with it if I was a player.

Favre gets to preserve his body for games that actually matter and Rosenfels and Jackson get more work. Jackson shows an occasional flash, so sitting behind Favre another year and getting all the mini-camp work would probably be the best situation he could hope to have. Of course, if I were Wilf, Childress wouldn't be my coach next season. But that's a different thread.

but if you're a guy making the minimum and he's the highest paid guy on the team AND he doesn't have to put in all the work you do, that's gonna piss guys off. Like I said, they won't say anything but the second anything starts going wrong, look out

Its the media that asks those questions every 30 minutes. Its not Favre shoving this stuff in our face.

that any of the players on the Vikings that it "pisses off" that go to the coach about it will be sent to another team where everyone is expected to work as a team. Like the Lions.

Even if Favre goes to mini camp, what are they probably going to do? Work his *** off or try to let him conserve energy? He could conserve energy sitting around his farm in Hattiesburg or wherever he lives. You think they're going to make him come to mini-camp to satisfy the long snapper and the special teams ace?

The fact of the matter is, Favre gives them the best chance to win the Super Bowl, and any of their players that don't realize that probably didn't pass the wonderlic before the draft. You could make an arguement that a player that demands and that tells their organization how to handle their perssonel is more likely to be a problem player than a hall of famer that doesn't show up to a mini-camp while trying to heal up for the season so that the team has the best chance to win.

Heck, if Peyton Manning told the Colts he wanted to skip a mini-camp, I wouldn't have a problem with it either if I were them. He has earned that right. It's an issue with Favre because he's not under contract and he keeps announcing his retirement.

They loved him..... at first. Then when they went into the tank and missed the playoffs, guys started sniping him in the media.
If he's given preferential treatment, and the season doesn't go as well as this one did (last night notwithstanding), there will be dissension in the lockerroom.. guaranteed

we'll all be subjected to Rachel Nichols standing in Brett's front yard giving us hourly updates. At least by this point her and the crew should have enough Mariott points or whatever for a free night in the Hub City.

that they fired their HC. I'm thinking that the Jets problems ran a lot deeper than giving Brett Favre mini-camp off.

He got his panties in a wad after the Packers tired of his yearly retirement crap and said they were done with it. He's wanted to get back at them since. Now ESPN, et al. hang on every little crumb of info about his retirement/unretirement/retirement/unretirement/retirement/unretirement that Bus Cook puts out there. Just go away old man.

I can assure you that I get to hear about the Brett saga way more than anyone needs to. At least now it's Minnesota's problem. They'll probably still have a Favre ticker on the local news, though.

Does anybody actually think he won't come back next year? This guy is the biggest drama queen this side of Nancy Kerrigan.
