Aberdeen played 36 minutes and went 0-10 from 3
To me Aberdeen was just an average basketball player. He’s not really improved from his early days in Florida. Very similar player then as he is now. I don’t know why Todd Golden was so hard core about losing him and getting him back.

It’s going to hit us in recruiting though. If ya know how to read between the lines in recruiting, you’ll see that Oats and Golden go hard on Popes issues. They see weakness and they go to exploit the hell out of it. It’s another reason he struggled, because he’s a weak recruiting the Goldens and Oats of the league shred him apart in recruiting and I’m sure that’s another reason Golden wanted him back. To say he left and saw bad coaching, turmoil on the team, a shaky program and realized his mistake and returned.

Pope was already a pretty bad recruiter. Anytime you’ve got the Kentucky brand with money money to buy a team than anyone and cannot even get into the top 5 and lose most targets you recruit, those attacks make it easier to erase you as a threat.

There is still 1 question on Florida IMO. Outside shooting! And today didn't help answer that question. No doubt they are big strong physical, good defense/rebounding ect. But we have seen how that ends in March! Bullyball just goes so far

FIRE TODD GOLDEN, BCG IS BETTER!
Just to be clear, I do know you’re joking, but the joke doesn’t really make logical impact I think some want in these types of comments.

Golden has a national title and has accomplishments most never do at his age. It doesn’t mean he’s going to win every game, it just means if he had the pathway of Pope, he wouldn’t be sitting with a 60% winning percentage, 10 years no tournaments, no tournament championships, and turned down to historic levels of a Kentucky program in recruiting.

I don’t think people fully comprehend how bad Mark has been at UK. Statistically in some areas he’s one of the worst we’ve ever hired. As in, Mark is not a good coach especially at a place like
This. He’d make more sense at a program like Virginia Tech, Georgia, or Southern Miss.

Although I don’t think any of those programs would hire him. BYU was about to begin moving toward his replacement they were done. They made clear they were very happy he was leaving and wished him luck.

So we’re not crazy, the Data is clear and the guy isn’t young. He’s not qualified for UK no matter how many people continue to believe this somehow makes sense. It makes sense for Barnhart and his control and access, it makes no sense for the program, brand, or base.

And I’m aware I’m not changing minds here, but this is bizarre. No UK fan especially with some age who knows how this works should support this peogram’s decision making right now. That is as close to a fact as you can get. In 10 years everyone still even halfway supporting this hire and supporting ideas of continuing with it will not be admitting that they did this. Same happened with BCG, I’ve been here a long time to know it lol.

It's already started with Stoops, his most ardent defenders are like "Yeah, who would've thought Stoops was the best we could do haha right guys"?

It means no more than our lackluster performance. No college team plays like a machine in October. I do think Florida will look unbeatable this year when they make a few threes and very beatable when they don't.
Florida is gonna be a monster this year. I got them winning the national title, think Golden moves onto the NBA afterwards, no chance he tries to "reload" that frontcourt.

Look Florida is a great team but the only reason they won the title a couple of years ago was because Clayton went off against Uconn, Texas Tech, Houston and Auburn, without him having a all time great run they wouldn't have even made the final four
Good thing they had him. At least from their perspective. I mean we don’t win without AD, what’s the point?

People are clearly having a problem with that concept. Coaches cannot take advantage of these glorified scrimmages because fans act like they are real games.
Exactly. I saw a lot of positives the other night. I had not seen the majority of these players and was impressed with the effort especially on defense. The main complaint I heard was we should have ran them out of the gym by 50. Why didn't Kansas beat Pittsburg State by 50?

I usually don’t consider traditional exhibition games where P5 teams play division 2/3 or NAIA teams say much about their own team. But these recent trend of playing games against Division 1 and especially P5 say a lot more than I think people want to admit. The competition is tougher.

We saw that last year where we beat Purdue and then loss to Georgetown, showing that our team was capable of beating anyone but they were also going to lose to pretty much anyone as well.

My biggest issue was playing too sloppy and not taking care of the ball well enough. After last years issues I was hoping that would be a priority and our handling of full court pressure was not good. I'll not overreact to an exhibition but that is my honest take.

We weren't running set offense the other night, it was pretty much lets concentrate on defense and get your own on offense. I am OK with it because the defensive effort was solid. If we can play with that type of defensive intensity all year, we will be a good team, because this team shoots the ball well enough to thrive in Popes system
