Basketball doesn't matter to them. Only if they were winning would it matter. We could win the ***** by 70 and they could care less. But if they were to beat us, there would be Rebels coming out of the wood work.

No, basketball is just a filler sport stuck in between two good sports. That comes directly from an OM fan.

However, 10 years ago baseball was just an afterthought.

You're right. How quickly we forget about the 19K in attendance game.

Football has never been an afterthought, even when we've been bad. It is and always will be No. 1. Basketball and baseball fight over a distant No. 2, and that's the way it is at most SEC schools. You want to win at everything, but football comes well before anything else, no matter if you're winning or losing.

As for this basketball season, no you won't hurt any of our feelings if you beat us by 30. We expect it, and we understand that it's going to be an ugly one this year, because we're down to only 3 players with previous D-1 experience (a combined 4 years). There isn't anything we can do about it. Honestly, you should expect to beat us by around 15-20 at least. If we keep it close with you, especially on the road, then you're not a very good team.

Still, even if we were a potential NCAA tourney team competing for the West title this year, and our football team was 0-8, football would still come first with basketball a distant second. Basically, it sucks more to lose at football than to lose at basketball. Go over to Nafoom right now, and I believe there is one thread about our game with UK tonight, and all it is is a post saying that we play tonight at 6 on ESPN. Last football season, when we were on our way to 0-8, there were daily threads about football over there.

is anyone else just a little worried that all the trash talking that our fans and players are doing may come back to haunt us? I have started getting the uneasy feeling that UM may use all the **** our fans will be giving AK as motivation and someone like Huertas goes off for 30 against us.

Someone please assure me that im just being paranoid.

A State fan should never take a game of anything for granted. I just don't want to get beat by someone like Will Bogan going off for 20. For the most part this year we have not had to deal with the Random A-Hole theory. McPhee for UGA doesn't count because we still won.

we do have a tendency to give up 30 points to single players, but if history holds up, it won't be Huertas, it will be some walk on that we dont know. AGAIN

The point is that 2-3 years ago you had Kennedy and Bianco performing well while O was still in his 5 year plan, and Ole Miss fan cared more about the two sports they were doing well in than football. Obviously last year you were tired of waiting on O and were anxious to boot him out, so naturally there is more chatter about that.

Understatement,

I was at the game last year between Ole Miss and NW St. where they announced over 20k+ in attendance which was ********. I had pictures on my phone until it went in the pool but there are more people at Meridian High School games.
Now, given that, the standard Ole Miss response would be that it's more fun to be in the grove and drink and what not, but the fact is that there were so few tents and people in the Grove that you actually didn't need to use the paths to walk. It was a tent every 30-40 feet. The grove was boring.
It is worth noting that me saying the grove is boring does actually mean something. I always have a blast in the grove with all of my Ole Miss buddies and enjoy spending time there

the only time they even pay attention to basketball is during their miracle runs (e.g. last year), if I had a dollar for each time I heard a wait til baseball season from them, I would be a rich man. nuff said
