The IHSA lawyer said he grew up in Oak Park but wasn't smart enough to go to Fenwick, that is some great stuff right there.

Dude on twitter updating live from the courthouse:

Amazing, all the murders in Chicago, educational inequities, problems with society. And people are glued to a twitter feed from a courthouse about a high school football game, a suit brought on by clientele that is too used to getting their way, private school mentality. In reality, probably would be best for all if private schools left, formed their own statewide association.

This whole thing is joke. There are bigger problems in this world than some damn game, but, God forbid we scar them for life by taking away their opportunity to play in a once in a lifetime title game. Screw the hungry, the tired, the poor. The game must go on!

No, really a conservative, and have voted that way. But see the realities that private schools are selective in their admissions, learning disability - out, minority that doesn't play sports- out, follow state testing protocols and guidelines-nope. It is not a reality world, it is a new world segregation.

Is this really the logistical hang-up you'd be most concerned about for a separate athletic association? Obviously public school educated. I'd laugh, if it wasn't my tax dollars being pissed away.

When I was in high school we played on Sunday afternoon. Almost every official was from the Big Ten. LA most time would get the crew who did the NW game. When SR played MC we would get the ND or Illinois crew.

So from one sentence you can determine that my public school education was terrible, I was always under the impression Wheaton public schools were ok but I guess not.

The picture you are painting is unfair.

My kids attend Aurora Christian. There are plenty of minority students and the school reflects the demographic of the greater Aurora area. AC is not a selective enrollment academy. It is a school that is a ministry to anyone interested in attending. Are there entrance exams and standard requirements? Yes. Does everyone get in? No.

AC has a "focus" program for kids who require additional assistance in classes. Maybe they are slower to learn in math or reading. They receive the resources necessary to move through the curriculum. We acknowledge we do not have the resources to educate severely disabled students. Public schools are the answer for them.

AC has a tuition assistance program that partners with local churches to sponsor students who want a Christian education. The school waives 50% of the tuition, the church and family partner to pay the rest. A non-white father from the east side of Aurora recently sat in the admissions office with tears in his eyes shaking his head. He told the admissions director, "I never thought I'd be sitting in this office at this school. I can't believe you've made a way for my child to attend Aurora Christian." It was a dream come true for him. And his student is not an athlete.

Not all private schools fit into your description, coach.

Wow----the prejudice is really bringing the long knives out.
This situation has nothing to do with public/private.
It's fairness and proper application of the IHSA's own rules.
Clientele too used to getting their own way?
Sure didn't work out that way in this situation.
Seems to me you're looking for ways to impose your own prejudices in to something that should have been cut and dried.
Team (private or public) wins the game on the field in regulation BY the rules advances.
Case closed.
Instead IHSA appointed refs bungle their job and then the governing body instead of putting the fire out pours gasoline on it and says we're done here.
THEY created this mess by not handling it properly upfront.

I don't know, Cap'n, at least it would mean you were still in the hunt...

Agreed it would be better to still be in it, but this is 7A and I can see both sides of the argument.

If it was baseball, officials would have upheld the protest and awarded victory to Fenwick, assuming Fenwick coaches would have protested the call and continuation.

Since it is football, there is no protest rule so you gotta fly by the rules provided. So PN is rightful owner of victory.

Torn, but not passionately so.

Pretty obvious you really don't know anything about private schools.
Another low information guy with prejudices up the wazoo and an axe to grind.
Mean spirited garbage adds nothing.
