Yes I know I'm responding to my own thread but as an update it looks like the strike will be looming for either week 9 or week one of the play offs. Talk about bad timing for the kids. This looks like it could get really ugly and I'm surprised that no one is talking about it.

If NV and WV make the playoffs, and I'm pretty sure they will, and they are on strike on 10/24 do they get seeded and forced to forfeit or do they get removed from the field before the seeding even starts?

It is unfortunate that the kids are collateral damage, but every strike and labor dispute has its own unique issues. We can complain that it is affecting the season but that is a vast over simplification of much bigger issues, than excuse me, high school football.

From this article in today's Daily Herald it does not sound like the union is considering taking a strike vote yet;

"Gamboa (the union president) said he'll meet Thursday with the union's executive board of about seven teachers elected by their peers to develop a plan for next steps. Those could include conducting a second survey to find out what else members are seeking in a deal or scheduling a new round of talks with the district, which serves roughly 28,500 students from parts of Naperville, Aurora, Bolingbrook and Plainfield."
